anyway... on to Disc 4: The Ring Goes East.
It's all Frodo and Sam from now on... and most of it is also re-graded with more color and stuff... The dead marshes are a bit more brown in hue... I felt that it was severly too desaturated ( I know to show how bleak it is...) but in real life... things don't necessarily go black and white usually.
In this version, Faramir is a nicer guy... even though he's not like in the books where he just lets them go, (yeah I wanted to do that too...) but there's an abbreviated Osgiliath scene. The reason I left all that in was that I couldn't just cut away to him happily taking the hobbits to a better path. It would have been alittle too fast and kinda funny too. Osgiliath is pretty much re-colored.
I also took some grading liberties... As the Ringwraith approaches (osgiliath and The Dead Marshes) things turn darker. Because, honestly, I thought they "humanized" the Nazgul too much. They're scary, yeah, but what about a black mystical aura? That would have made the Wraiths more spiritual and more evil than seen in the films... and it's more accurate to the book, I think.
And yes, there's the whole Crossroads, Minas Morgul, Stairs, and Shelob sequences in this version as well... and if your'e thinking about the taking out of the
Sam and Frodo parting thing... I can't... it wouldn't work well. They didn't film it that way
