Rotoscoping a flaming sword in Photoshop/After Effects

Any suggestions on how to rotoscope a flaming sword (like the one held by the Witchking in the extended Return of the King) in Photoshop (as a Premiere filmstrip) or After Effects?

You could try Alam DV, I'm sure a previous version had a flaming sword.
