the rings films have very little to do with the works they are based on. These people should actually pick up a book and read it the dumbasses.
This is irrelevant to the work they produced. Star Lords is not about the book. It's about the qualities which ended up on film. How each director frames certain shots, how they capture movement and how these ways of directing influence other directors. If anything Peter Jackson learned some of his style of directing from George Lucas and this Star Lords production shows that. (the way the Walker and Oliphant fall, for instance) And maybe George got something back when making RotS. (Would Mustafar have looked the same if Mordor hadn't been portrayed on screen?)
Yes lucas was a fan of the rings books before he made star wars, but any similar stuff is purely coincidental and not on purpose.

Again, this is not about questioning any merit of saying that Lucas was influenced by Tolkens books. This piece is about comparing two (well actually three (OT, LotR, PT) trilogies, that are on film. And i don't know what angle your taking but the Ring movies are closer to the written book then many other book spawned movies.
But yes some of these similar moments between the trilogies could be construed as coincidental, but they do paint a good picture of how our culture reinforces itself, and how some creative people build upon other people's works.
These trilogies have many similar themes, and these folks put together one heck of a compilation reel. All wrapped up in what at first is appropriate for the film material, but then veers out into the other cultural detritus of the time, for many of this generation.... Disco. Come on your didn't laugh at the Han/Aragorn boogie down, you know that Han clip is one of pain and suffering but with some disco repeat editing, it's party time, that's good reuse.
I personally really dig the clips of everyone looking around frantically, just before the disco introduction. You got the sense that something was coming up but we're you expecting what you got?
