Has anyone ripped the commentary tracks that were included in the laserdisks? I’ve been dying to hear them, even if from what ive heard they arent anything special. I know there a few dvds out there that have included them but i havent been able to find them and I really dont want to download or trade away a whole set of disks just for a sub-par commentary tracks. I know someone must have ripped the tracks themselves for preservation.

If you just want the commentary, Rowman's Definitive Edition extras has just the parts of the movie with the Definitive Edition commentary. The commentary isn't very long, and is silent for most of the films anyway. But they do have some interesting things to say. Rowman's extras disc set is worth getting, because it has all the extras from the laserdiscs, and much more.

It was also included on the Dr Gonzo set, and cowclops v2. There may be some other sources, but those are the only ones I know of.

most laserdisc preservations include the commentary. my fave is citizen's, but you can make your own decision.

I made a DVD version that had the LD audio as well as the commentaries. There was a sub-menu that let you jump to each segment (The commentaries are not full length, as there are long spaces of silence in-between each segment.)

MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.
JediRandy: They’re certainly beyond any repair you’re capable of making.

MeBeJedi: You aren’t one of us.
Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.

JediRandy: I won’t suck as much as a fan edit.
