There are things about all versions (the originals, SE, SSE) that I love so I really don't mind what it looks like, just to own an official copy is fine with me. That's not to say that all the edits I've downloaded or received in the mail will now be cast out.

To those of you complaining about this new release (I'm not sure that you're serious or not...) Why are you complaining? This is what this site is for (or was...), is it not? That's why you were here, because you all wanted the original trilogy on DVD and in the meantime some of you created your own. You should have known that it was gonna happen eventually. "Never say never" is how the saying goes, I think.

I will be buying the new set. I will still continue to track down VHS tapes that I don't yet own. Hopefully now the laserdisc sets will drop in price on eBay and then I can start buying them. Most importantly, I will still try to acquire all the fan edits (that you wonderful people have created) that I don't yet own.

I've always been a fan of Star Wars (I used to watch the trilogy every Christmas when it aired on TV), but I wasn't a huge fan (even though I would buy every release on VHS as it came out - stupidly I would sell them on later). Then I found this site whilst looking for the OT on DVD to tide me over until it got an official release and the TR47v.1 was the first set I downloaded. Then I read some more of this site and found the Dr. Gonzo set was different, so I thought "what the hell..." and downloaded that too. Then it snowballed and I'm still trying to complete my fan edits sets. This site alone increased my interest tenfold, and for that I am extremely grateful to everyone here. You've turned me from a casual fan into someone who now tries to get everything I can get my hands on.

Don't be pissed that the OT is now on DVD, that's why you're here. That's why we're all here. Be proud that there are others that have shared your dreams and goals.

And I'm spent.
