Has anyone ever done a "master version" of John Woo's BULLET IN THE HEAD? I saw that in a theater and it ended with the "MAN WHO WOULD BE KING" shot. When I rented it from a local chinese grocery store a few months later is when I saw the insane car/gun battle denoument. I hear that there are a few other differences cuts here/there.

How about a re-working of the Twilight Zone movie. But do it so that each of the 4 episodes is like the TV show with the intro and credits and such.

That would probably be simple.

Has it ever been release in widescreen laserdisc?

Just got done watching this. Wonder if anyone can contact the original maker so we can get this preserved on dvd, cause this is awesome.

As for my dream fan-edit, I wanna see the uber-cut of Buckaroo Banzai with all the deleted footage from the dvd, but with Rawhide doing the "The following footage has been released by the Banzai Institute for Bio-Medical Research and Strategic Information" speech leading into the original opening footage, but with the dvd narration. Then insert all the deleted scenes accordingly.

Of course, the other one is becoming a reality (Thief and the Cobbler). hehe...

The US release of Xenosaga: Episode 1 was pulled by a fangroup so you could (mostly) follow the game's story via the cinematics and some ingame scenes. Anyone thought of doing the same for Xenosaga II and possibly Ace Combat 4/5/Zero?

That is wild. If we were unable to find the original creator you could actually use the audio from this and virtually re-create it yourself from the film itself. This is first class. Thanks for the link.

the guy can be contacted through the website. just look around the bottom of the page.

here is an idea. how about a re-edit of the US version of Godzilla! make it less shite, take out ferris beuller's annoying girlfriend or edit her part down, make it more tighter paced and take out or edit down the baby godzilla scenes. leave the Jean Reno and Hank Azaria banter intact because they were funny.

i'd like to hear some more thoughts about this.

Something that I think might be impossible to do, but fun, is make a half decent version of Robocop 3 . The original film is unmatched and Robocop 2 was just an average action romp but still violent. The third however, had an ok story but was turned into a horrible PG-13 friendly kid film. (as well as losing the original actor Peter Weller) How on earth could one make it seem a bit grittier? Answers on a postcard.

Yeah, that was me. I'd love to see this too

these are not really fan edit requests but preservation requests:

1. Krieg der sterne trilogy(German star wars set) widescreen silver screen collection
2. French coffret collector set from 1994 pre faces or special edition

Uh, there's a whole forum dedicated to Star Wars fan edits and preservation. Here's the link, in case you missed it.

Didn't see this when I started my American Psycho extended version. I'm not a big fan of cutting films down, but I'm all over adding in deleted scenes. Love to see the following:

The Warriors TV Version - has the original introduction where they explain why each character is going to the meeting, and other extra scenes not in either of the 2 cuts on DVD

Once Upon A Time In The West - adding back in the extended intro and ending that's only on the Italian DVD

The Good The Bad And The Ugly - adding back in the extended Tuco torture scene (the footage isn't that bad!)

Dawn Of The Dead - the longest version possible from all the different versions

Hellraiser - not sure if the footage ever surfaced, but was originally a lot gorier, a lot more s&m references, original English voices (not overdubbed with American accents) and the original Coil score which was deemed "too scary" by the director.

This Is Not An Exit - a video that came out in 2000 which was a documentary about Bret Easton Ellis and had various dramatisations of scenes from his books (American Psycho, Less Than Zero etc.) featured then unknown Rachel Weisz it seems. Would love to get even a VHS dub of this one.

Anyone interested or know if any of these projects have been attempted..?

Sure, there's some info here:
http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=4219

"R2 Italy - (CVC (Cine Video Corp.) - Remastered) - (Italy - remastered) - 170 min (PAL). The Italian DVD is an extended version of the movie. Running time is 170:00 min - PAL ("standard versions" used in the other countries varies between 155 to 165 min. Paramount SE is 158:25 min - PAL). The principal difference is the opening sequence, which is longer (look at Jack Elem´s game with the fly), and the closing is also longer (the panoramic shoot is complete before the titles "C'era Una Volta Il West" appear). Another scene, which is missing from all European cuts, is in this one: After the station scene, Harmonica holds his arm because of the terrible pain in it, and returns on his horse."

Might not be a tough edit - you'd need to track down the Italian DVD and the UK one and do it in PAL, not sure about in Italy but here in the UK you can get the 2xDVD set for like £6, it's really cheap.

A few other preservation things I'd love to see:

Downtown - the MTV animation from 1998, loved that show but every episode I download is horrible quality - or is covered with 1/3 of the screen with foreign subtitles, be great to have a DVD of good quality versions.

Aeon Flux - Whole series and orig shorts on DVD in decent quality

lots of David Lynch releases:

Twin Peaks Season 2: I have the LD set, but wish I had decent transfers I could take round to other people's houses and watch and not just sit on my own, since I'm the only person in Scotland with a LD player it seems. I know it's meant to be coming out within a year, but well... Nothing is definite.

Industrial Symphony - A LD only Lynch release

Hotel Room - again think this was a LD release

On The Air - another Lynch TV show never made it to DVD but was a LD/VHS release

Mullholland Drive TV Pilot - the orig hour long TV Pilot version of Mulholland Drive, would love to see this in any format but a nice DVD transfer from a low gen bootleg would be ideal

I was wondering, I heard a rumour someone here had picked up a top of the range LD player and was re-transferring the Star Wars LD and doing extensive colour correction. Is this true, and is this person doing other preservation projects? Some amazing LD out there that could really do with being transferred well.

I've got all those Lynches on DVDr from LD. Well, except for the Pilot of MD -- that's on DVDr from the VHS that was floating around. Took me a while to get that.

Le Pacte des Loups (Brotherhood of the Wolf): Special Longer Version - Take the 152 minute Director's Cut and take the rest of the deleted scenes and make a longer version in it's Original French Audio with of course English subtitles.

ALIEN - Custom 136m Version - Use the 117m Theatrical Version and then use all the restored deleted scenes on the second disc of the Collector's Edition (or the fourth disc in the Quadrilogy set because it's the same one) and make a True Director's Cut. Not true in the sense of the word but actually more of a Director's Cut which flows more in the pace of the Theatrical Version.

Edited again.

In the "Isolated Score Tracks - Your Wishlists" thread, I was joking about someone making an isolated score track for "2001: A Space Odyssey". Yes, it would be pointless (that's the joke).

Now today I was thinking how kewl it would be if someone would make a new version of this film using the original Alex North score as recorded by Jerry Goldsmith as one of the audio tracks. There can be two audio tracks one with the original versions music and another with North's score.

Anyone?
