I didn't really read all of the Jedi Academy trilogy of books, not really liking it, but IIRC, there was a sith soul in the temple at Yavin. But I thought that he was not a spirit in the same sense as a Jedi spirit (Obi-Wan, Yoda, Anakin) He was more along the lines of the undead. I think he wasn't really quite dead, but he trapped his soul in the temple before his body died. He can't really leave the temple. Obi-Wan, etc could go anywere they wanted to go. I would suspect that other sith would fall along the same lines.
