It had segments with live action, but the main part of the shows were the cartoons set in the acutal Mushroom Kingdom.

It's funny I only remember the live action parts. Pretty weird they were... [/yoda]

I did see that. Sad part is, the live action segments were more faithful to the videogame than the Bob Hoskins and Jonh Leguizamo film.
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. I remember that pro wrestler Captain Lou Albano was Mario. He also played Cyndi Lauper's dad in the "girls wanna have fun" video. The live action segments were so corny that it was hilarious, at least I thought so.

I still have plenty of tapes from The Super Mario Bros. Super Show, so I'm not likely to forget about it pretty soon. My favorite show as a young tyke. The live-action Mario and Luigi were much more faithful than the movie. Did anyone notice that, even though the characters were played by the same actors, they both had totally different personalities in the live-action segments as opposed to the main cartoon? In the live-action segments, Mario was a bumbling idiot to Luigi's rather calculating straight man. In the cartoons, Mario was the heroic one, and Luigi was the traditional cowardly sidekick.

I think I saw a video on Ebaum's World once that showed the live action Mario "dropping the F-Bomb". It may have been a slip of the tongue, but it was probably just a combination of two words that sounded like "the F-Bomb".

Then again, I can't think of any combination of words that would make that sound....

Maybe because it worked better that way. The live action segments did not require for Mario to be heroic, it was just a silly, corny sitcom for kids. The cartoon required an "action hero" and a comic releaf oposed to him, so the personalities were different.

I'm not complaining about it or saying that I didn't understand why. I just thought it was an interesting twist, if you will.

I remember the Super Mario brothers cartoon that was hosted by two guys dressed as the Mario Brothers that would feature Legend of Zelda cartoons on Fridays while the Mario Brothers cartoon played Monday-Thursday. Unfortunately, the guys who played the Mario Brothers were replaced by two punks who were ripping off Bill & Ted, at which point the show jumped the shark.
I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an Obi-Wan to go.

Red heads ROCK. Blondes do not rock. Nuff said.

You're talking about the change from The Super Mario Bros. Super Show to Club Mario, which I vaguely remember. But all that was was replacing the live action with that new stuff while keeping the same cartoons. I don't think any original cartoon episodes were made under that banner. And then the next season, they returned with The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 (my favorite series but one that I have a sad lack of episodes in my collection) with no live-action parts and Lou Albano and Danny Wells being replaced by Walker Boone and Tony Rosato as the voices of Mario and Luigi, a casting change that continued in the last season of the show, Super Mario World.

I have the Zelda dvd. Well excuuuuse me Princess! I heard that the music from the Super Mario bros show was changed. From the IMDB Super Mario trivia page, "When shown in reruns after cancellation, DIC took out all the song remixes and replaced them with instrumentals of the songs featured in 'Captain N & the Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3' (1990)." Does this mean another preservation project?

Take back the trilogy. Execute Order '77
