man i just finished this book, overall it was well written and had a great story. Thrawn is now my favorite character and they really fleshed him out in this series, i always wondered how thrawn could have been so loyal to palipatine, they reveil that in this book and boy is it intrigueing. the reason almost gives him an excuse for taking over the galacy, an forging a huge army, include the death stars.

ill wait to see how many people reply b4 i reveal what that is i dont want to spoil it for people.

Your title is a little messed up. It is called Outbound Flight. Just thought I would point this out.

no one seems to be replying so ill just say it, pali knew about the yuuzhan vong invasion, he used it to convincce thrawn to distroy outbound flight, thrawn also knew as so he allied himself, with pali, but insured isolation, and so he never got to know pali for what he was. could it be that the true purpose for the militerisation of republic, and eventually the empire, was to fend off the yuuzhan vong, if soo, he doesnt seem like that bad of a guy after all, cause its something that needed to be done.

Shim, have you read the 2 Hand of Thrawn books ('Specter of the past' and 'Vision of the future')? They hint at the stuff you just mentioned.

no i really want to know. its very interesting to hear that info though, cause it puts a good light on him, if the old republic got hit by the Yuuzhan vong they would have gotten rocked. it was only all the militerization that pali did that got the galaxy ready. it brings up so many new questions as to what pali's BIG plan was. yes he wanted power but was the creation of the dstars really truely what he was calling them a way to protect the galaxy or was it a way to fight the vong. the whole thing reminded me of a very funny line in the NJO.

imperial diplomat: still i wonder what would have happened has the empire been in power, some how i think the empire would have smashed the vong at first sight rather then sit by and let them gaina foot hold.
Han Solo: NO thats not what the empire would have done, palpatine would have spent trillions of credits, gotten the best scientist in the world and created the biggest most distructive super vong killing deathstar-like machine, just so one hotshot pilet could fly in fire a missile down a cooling vent and blow the whole thing up.

HaHa, that is a good line.

I wasn't really a fan of this whole Vong thing, but I think I might like to get into some of the new Star Wars EU, seeing as it is now trying to tie the old stories and characters like Palpatine into the bigger picture.
