Great clip. Thanks a bunch! I can't wait to hear the THX clip.
I think the new soldiers could be introduced by Wat Tambor. His playing with his knob* mid sentence has always bothered me. I'd love to see that replaced.
Ha ha! Actually, not only did his playing with the knob irritate me, that whole CG character irritated me (along with the two others, like the one with the horizontally crushed head). I actually cut all of their close-ups with dialogue. Now, the scene is basically Dooku laying out his battle plan, with Nute speaking up occasionally. This is really the introduction of Dooku, and the scene plays that way.
Thank you. Looking at it as a fan of the original Star Wars trilogy, this finished movie will be my dream come true as well. I was so disappointed with AOTC- I actually thought it was the worst of all 6 films. At least Phantom Menace had some structure to it. However, this editing has been great because now, I really understand the deeper reasons as to why it was poorly done. It's a lot of work, but it's a lot of fun. I'm really trying to push myself and get this done for this summer.

Great looking clip and great update, TM!
You got me rabid to see your cut. We better solve the Jar Jar problem fast-- and I suggest going for the easiest solution that can work.
In fact, I suggest you dictate what should happen and make the Episode I team follow your lead.
Anyway, great work. I do presume you will cut in some war footage from Episode II as well, right? I think they'll cut together nice if you're at the helm.
Can't hardly wait!

Have you tried any footage from David Lynchs' Dune? There might be some more alternate takes to use.
I'm still looking around for a copy of the David Lynch Dune; I haven't gotten a hold of it yet, though. And I agree that Mace's blue saber on that shot would be really effective.
Ha ha!- that's something I can't reveal yet. Pretty soon, I need to create a trailer, and you'll hear the new voice in that trailer. Basically, it's a lot lower, not whiny or needy, confident/ambitious...you get the picture. Listening to the recordings, I can definitely picture it turning into James Earl Jone's voice, whereas I just can't with Hayden.

Trooperman, what you're doing is really a fans dream come true. You're taking the existing films and giving us a more expansive vision of the story. Thanks from this fan.

If you replace the analysis droids with a big vending machine or something, can it be called J.E.D.-I 3000 (Jedi Examination Droid, Inspector #3000) or something like that?
Sure, we can call it something like that. We can call it whatever we want after I figure out a way to make the shots work
Thanks! The new music is "Mars", the first piece of Gustav Holst's classic suite, "The Planets". It sounds like Star Wars music, and it was used in the temp track for the original Star Wars, so it seems appropriate that it should come in again for this movie. And yes, most of the new shots in that clip were from "Dune", except the explosion, which I pulled from Lawrence of Arabia.
I agree with everyone saying that there should be more Star Wars material in this sequence, because if you think about it, that whole battle in that clip didn't have ANY elements from AOTC at all. I will definitely splice in the shot of Mace charging, and if I can figure out how, I will rotoscope saber and do blaster shots (or at the very least, those white/purple impact flashes typical of SW). The thing is, it's a lot easier to rerotoscope an existing saber than it is to create a new blade. Gee, I wish we had a special effects artist to do the Jedi Analysis Robot composite, the two sunset/dusk scenes on Tatooine, and FX work on this Dune footage. It would make things go much more quickly.

...I was also wondering what the new Anakin voice sounds like...?

Where is the new cool music from?
Are all the new shots from Dune?
They all blend nicely I think. Can't wait to see the whole movie (and the new Coruscant too

Ditto. Thanks for your compliments- you know that you're the man that revamped the love story and Anakin's "emotional journey" (corny as it sounds) throughout the film, so you are very much responsible for that. Regarding Jar-Jar...I really wish MagnoliaFan would get his new cuts out soon, because he's said that he's secured some rare foreign language tracks for all of the prequels. I think that might be a good place to get Jar-Jar/Nemoidian dialogue. Maybe I can ask him personally...
And as I said, I'm trying to get this out this summer. That will require finishing the movie in a couple months, so that I have time to actually encode the thing, do subtitles, extras, menus, commentary, and so on, and testing it. Believe me, I'm impatient as well (for you all to see this film), but it just takes time. It's a very large and complex project.
Thanks, guys!
