DVD burner reccomendations

I'm currently using a Plextor PX-716A, and this is the second one that's gone kaput on me. Maybe it's an issue with my computer, but after I use the drive for a while (just a few months), the buffer starts fluxuating like a madman and burning a DVD that would normally take 8mins takes 30mins. I tried everything that Tech Support told me to try and nothing worked, so they replaced my drive, and now it's happening again. Anyway.

I want to switch brands if this is indeed an issue with the drive and not my computer. Any reccomendations?

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

I've used nothing but pioneer burners and never had any problems. My brothers use NEC burners. I recommend:

- Pioneer DVR-110D (or the 111)
- NEC ND-3550 (or the 3551, 4570)

EDIT: If bit setting/book type is important to you, the pioneer can't change it. But I think NEC burners can but I don't know much about it since I only used pioneers .
Fez: I am so excited about Star Whores.
Hyde: Fezzy, man, it's Star Wars.

Changing book type and region on my NEC 3250A was extremely easy.

MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.
JediRandy: They’re certainly beyond any repair you’re capable of making.

MeBeJedi: You aren’t one of us.
Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.

JediRandy: I won’t suck as much as a fan edit.
