I am getting the audio problems as well. I can play the regular PCM audio, but not the commentary track. I ripped a couple chapters from the DVD and found out that the ac3 audio wasnt encoded correctly, or is corrupt.

Where can I get these? Do I need to send you the blank discs? And can I get these in PAL format?

Craig welcome to the forum....

BUT...

It's not a great idea to make your first post requests for the discs... I'm not trying to come down on ya but it is considered bad form to make your first post asking for something.

And no the DVD's are NTSC so you'll need to be able to play NTSC but there is a great PAL transfer out there, so PLEASE read the forums threads and you will find ALL the information you seek

I've converted this Trilogy (among others) to PAL format and to be honest they don't even come close to a native PAL transfer. If you want the best available PAL versions of the Trilogy I recommend Moth3r's collection. Citizen's stuff also comes highly recommended.

But Rik's right (as usual) not exactly good form. You also want to enable private messages in your profile and give folks an idea of where you're at.

Cheers.

I have put together a wee website to help out the beginner in their quest.

The recent release by Grinder is also in PAL but the vast majority of the releases out there are in NTSC, which, in my experience, have played on every DVD player I have ever had over here in PAL-land........

Is it likely that all laserdisc transfers will be discontinued immediately before seeing the official release? Damn it. Cowclops was the next trilogy capture on my list !

Doesn't stop you trading for copies, we've just gotta be a bit more sly about it from now on as we're not dealing with OOP movies anymore.

I guess it this stuff should be coming down soon once the O-OT is available officially. But take everything with a grain of salt. Lucas has always been good at messing stuff like this up. So until it comes out and it is confirmed to be the originals, and a decent transfer (no changes, no stupid mistakes such as Luke's saber on the falcon, no audio mix mistakes) I wouldn't stop the preservation efforts just yet.

I will continue to send out copies if people ask strickly as preservation or back-ups of their laserdiscs but I really don't want to upload them now that there was an official announcement.

A bit (ok, a lot) off-topic, but I like the cars in your banner, Rikter! Are they yours?

Let's see, Datsun 1600/510 (reminds one of the old Ford Escorts. Loved the "dogbone" grille on them), Datsun 240Z (looks early, like maybe 1970 or so), and Datsun 1600/510 estate? (I dunno why I put estate instead of wagon. Too much Top Gear, maybe?)

As I understand it the v.2 audio is a bit-accurate capture of the LD audio. What program was used to turn this 44 khz audio into 48 khz audio?

Hi. I'm trying to re-burn my copies of the cowclops v.2 dvds. I have the data discs for eps IV and VI that I made from the 'spleen torrents, and I have the discs that I burned from those files, long, long ago. As it turns out, my method of burning them was sh**. They ended up at 2.68 GB from 4.3 GB of files (except ESB which I burned right, somehow). So my dilemma is that my data disc has a corrupt file on it. Specifically VTS_01_1 . Can anyone help me out here? I can't find cowclops v.2 up anywhere.

Hello,
Is someone able to help me get Enpire and Jedi of this set? I downloaded and burned them
a long time ago using discs that turned out to be crap!

I just downloaded Cowclops v2 and Yoda seems to sound different and say slightly different things than I'm used to on the old THX and pre-THX VHS boxsets. The echo and mix of Luke's voice in the "I Am Your Father Scene" seems a little different too. Am I crazy or is the sound on the cowclops ESB a less common mix?

 (Edited)

So jedi791, your first post is about an obsolete transfer of the DefEd laserdiscs. There are other, better sources for the original unaltered trilogy, like the GOUT (official 2006 dvd's) (Better video but inferior audio due to dolby encoding and the lego star wars 2 demo. Pretty much the main standard for syncing audio and video to.); DarkJedi GOUT V3/Team Blu ANH (both produced by same group. They take the GOUT as a base and increase it's the quality from it.); Harmy's Despecialized (takes 2004/2011 SE as base, color corrects it, and uses various sources to make it as close to the OUT as possible), the Team Negative One releases (super 8mm for ANH and 35mm for TESB, with 35mm ANH and ROTJ on the way. Not GOUT synced though.), and the JSC transfer/X0 JSC ROTJ (no digital noise reduction, so it looks a little clearer than the Defcol/Faces/GOUT, which all use the same transfer).

Take your pick. Also, welcome to the forums.

Also, there are other LD caps available on the spleen, including the "dr gonzo" version which I upped a few months ago. It was done around the same time as this one from the 93 LDs.

Looking at the date of the last post should have been a clue this thread has been dormant for some time now.  There are, as danfun has pointed out, far better transfers of video and audio done since then.

If you browse these sections first you'll get familiar with what is available and possibilities on how to acquire them.

Welcome to the forum.
