New PSP to offer touch screen

Aparently, Sony's new model of PSP will offer a touch screen device. *Sigh *

Sony has been lucky so far their consoles were provided by good third-party games, because they are pretty much moving as Nintendo goes. Stole rumbling. Stole analog stick. Games, such as incoming SONYdogs (that will be the name of in-pack the game. Sonydogs.) And now this...

Complaining about a video game company stealing the rumble feature and analog sticks is like complaining about a fast food company stealing the idea to serve fries with their burgers.

But it's still really funny. But you have to remember that Nintendo didn't create the analog stick either. It was first featured in the early '80s on the Fairchild, I think.

One thing is a STICK. Another is the analog command. Not zeroes and ones, saying "up" or "not up", but different degrees of movement. On a console, on a large scale, that was the first.

Actually, I really like the idea of a PSP touch screen. I hate trying to navigate the menu system by touching the screen only to realize "oh, darn, this isn't the DS!"...

That pick is a VERY good fake. Nice.

I am talking about the analog stick. It was Nintendo that popularized it, but they weren't the first console to make use of it, although they usually claim to be.

Remember when Mario64 was the "best game in the world"? I still hold fond memories of that game. AND Super Smash Bros. 1, that rocked too.

Super Smash Bros. 2 was even better. There aren't many game sequels that totally blow away the originals, but Super Smash Bros. Melee improved on the original SSB in every conceivable way.

But yes, Mario 64 is awesome. I still play it. Did anyone here ever get all 120 stars? I did it WAAY back in 2nd grade

Yes, I did it in 5th grade soon after it first came out. The most recently I did it was last summer when I played it again.

I HAD THE "STICK" CONTROLLER FOR A VIDEO GAME SYSTEM THAT WE BOUGHT AT MONTGOMERT WARDS. IT MAY HAVE BEEN THE INTELEVISION.

Have you ever seen a over used touch screen-in the respect it looks like a 10 year old etch-a-scetch (lines and curves all over the screen) to see what a bad idea that is

Hm. There are things that can remedy that...

If the outer plate that covers the LCD itself was replaceable. Besides, most PSP games wouldn't use it, so it would likely only be used for Net and menu nagivation, and hence there would be less wear and tear than say use in a game like Feel the Magic where you're tapping the screen ferociously.

First of all, the picture is clearly a fake, it is a joke based on how Sony has followed every single step made by Nintendo related to inovation. Sony hasn't come up with anything original, really, and has blatanted copied lots of aspects of the other videogame companies. The only reason Sony videogames made up to this point is due to a stable hardware and good third-party games, plus the incredible incompetence of Sega from the mid 90s up to the early 2000s.

Now, seems to me most of you are not bothered by the PSi (the new PSP) featuring a touch screen, even though I've heard AGAIN and AGAIN from PSP owners and Sony-lovers how the touch screen is "dumb". What next? Two screens?

Nintendo has been always in the front end of criativity and inovationm sometimes paying the price for it (virtual boy), Sega had good hardware but idiots running the company to the ground, and Sony knew how to stay in the market by playing dirty.

The Virtual Boy failed because it hurt people's eyes and got no support, and because nobody wants to play a system you have to wear on your head. And the 'only red and black' thing.

That said, Sony has taken a bunch of Nintendo's innovations and profited immensely from them, though it is largely Nintendo's fault Sony is even IN the game industry. They'd be partners instead of rivals if the Big N hadn't backed out of the original Playstation project.

Then again, I think I like it better with Nintendo the way it is. If they had joined forces with Sony, the industry would undoubtly be very different today.

Man, who cares? It's all stupid politics. As long as you're getting to play the video games you want to be playing, who cares how or why they got to you? Seriously, the only reason I pick Sony over Nintendo is because the PS has more RPGs. Besides that, I don't see much of a difference.

Besides, can you really blame Sony for wanting to make money? That's the whole reason big corporations exist. To make money. The DS is selling better than the PSP, so what do you expect Sony to do? Sit on their hands and say "we can't be copy cats!"? No, of course not. Obviously they're going to go where the money's at. That doesn't mean they're FIGHTING DIRTY, it just means they're good businessmen.

Nintendo had some of the best accessories of all time. Some like the powerglove sucked but were cool any way.

And IMO the best was NES Advantage.

And some failed flatout. And disapointed us with no Earthbound 64.

Did the 64DD ever actually get released?

And by the way, I like the Virtual Boy. That was the first incarnation of Mario Tennis we ever saw, and it's still my personal favorite.

The only games I remember were Mario Tennis and then a pretty good Wario World game.
