Audio Software Help - Original Trilogy

Does anyone here know of a software which would allow me to record audio from a microphone input AND allow me to play audio bits or even video files, while mixing this all together, pretty much like a radio station? If possible, show a directory or folder with the audio bits, you know, like a radio station table, which would allow me to play the audio I want, control the microphones, stuff like that. It would be necessary to record it on mp3 or wav or something, mixing it all together "live", as it records... It could be shareware, but if it's freeware, that's even better.

No it would have to, unfortunally, be windows. I have found other softwares for Mac.

Audacity is pretty good. It's not the best thing out there, but hey, it's free.

Seems to me it's merely an audio editor, but it states it can "record live", not sure what that means. I'm gonna try it and see if it works. On the meanwhile, if anyone has a better idea... now is the time.

RIC, IF YOU USE AUDACITY MAKE SURE YOU CONSTANTLY SAVE YOUR PROGRESS AS THE PROGRAM IS PRONE TO CRASHING A LOT. I'VE BEEN USING AUDACITY FOR YEARS NOW, SO I KNOW WHAT IT CAN AND CAN'T DO.

I've installed it here, and it dosen't seem to allow me to record from both micriphone and audio files. So it's no good for what I want...

So I guess no one had any ideas, eh? Oh well, I've searched and downloaded literally dozens of sharewares, none were even close to what I need - and it's not that complicated...

I know I sound like a broken record, but Vegas will do simultaneous playback and record.
