And YIYF, Welcome to the home of the cowardly and the land of the opinionless sheep!!!

Jag, I think you misunderstood which county YIYF is moving to. He is moving to America the land of the free and home of the brave. (make fun of me if you wish)

Well, I'm no Bush fan so I won't fight you here. But to get back to the topic of this thread.

I hate the fact the Bush is called a coward/idiot/moron/murderer on this forum more often than is Sadam or Bin Ladin.

I also hate fact that I feel this is done somtimes because some believe it makes them sound cool and brave to go against the U.S.A.

Mostly I meant the people who don't care about who is elected president, whether we go to war or not, etc. And the sheep part? Well see Fight Club if you haven't. The sheep Brad Pitt mentioned a few times? That's the kind of sheep I'm talking about.

EDIT: Oh, I forgot about the cowardly part. Well, I don't want to offend anyone here... But since this is an "opinion only" thread I'll say it--The president is a coward.

Yeah, and Macs suck too, don't they, Jag?

When you have something to back your opinion, I'll start listening

Yeah, I agree. I'm all for going against the establishment, but not just for the sake of doing so or to look cool. At least have a purpose to back it up.

Sybeman,

Got me again.

And Warbler: I don't know if that's the reason people say it (in some cases it may be), but personally I don't think Saddam was a coward; Bin Laden... constantly hiding--what a pussy. Saddam though, he was like a Hitler. I don't think either of them were cowards. Mostly because I think it takes A LOT of guts to stand up to *everyone* who opposes you; and they both happened to have a bite that equaled their bark.

I just can't see Bush becoming a dictator. (it makes me smile just imagining what it would be like to watch him try)

Back to the thread!!! I hate how all these old companies are creating cute nicknames for themselves and making comercials that use the said nicknames. Like just tonight, I saw a Washington Mutual comercial. They called themselves WaMu, how gay is that...? And UPS calling themselves Brown. And I think another one was called Blue. Tell me if you can think of more because I know they're out there.

UPS is calling themselves Brown? Isn't UPS enough of an abbreviation for them?

That is by no means a new saying. They've been "Brown" for as long as I can remember, and "What can Brown do for you?" has been around for at least five years.

Edit: Sorry, 2002 it was

Double Edit: Here's a press release

Hmm, if that's true, I feel pretty embarrassed, as I usually keep up with slogans and company nicknames pretty well. Now that you mention it, it seems slightly familiar, but I have a habit of thinking that whenever someone says something like that, so maybe I just fabricate the memories.

"BLUE" IS IN REFERENCE TO THE "BLUE" AMERICAN EXPRESS CARD. AmEx ISN'T CALLING THEMSELVES "BLUE" JUST THE CARD.

BROWN HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE COMPANY COLOR FOR UPS JUST AS ORANGE WAS ALWAYS THE COLOR FOR BRANIFF AIRLINES. YOU SAW THE COLOR OF THE TRUCK OR PLANE, AND YOU KNEW WHICH COMPANY IT WAS.

I believe the UPS shade of brown is copyrighted, too.

I know that brown was always the UPS color. I just didn't know they referred to the color as their name.

(make fun of me if you wish) Although I have met my fair share of people in America who I would rather not associate with for various reasons, and I find their government and it's policies somewhat 'questionable', I can say the same of my native country England, which I love and hate to varying degrees for all the same reasons that most people have against America. It's not an American thing, it's a social modern condition thing. Overall, my experiences of America and it's people are generally good and pleasant. The people are more open, more accomodating and more friendly than other places I have experienced, including my own country, which is rapidly sliding downhill. The England that you guys imagine and see in the movies, the England that JRR Tolkien had in his heart as he wrote LOTR, the Engalnd of Mary Poppins and even James Bond, just does not exist anymore except , perhaps, in a few remote villages in the country. So I am with Warbler on this one. I would not move to America if I thought it was a bad place. I think some other country's could benefit from some of America's patriotism. They (Americans) may sound a bit silly and naive at times (hence Warbler's 'laugh at me if you wish' comment), but their heart is in the right place, and, while I reserve the right to criticise certain aspects of the culture if and when I feel the need, I applaud Warbler for constantly defending America's original values (which have become a little lost and muddied over the years).

I'm gonna be in LA this summer, actually (July 3- July 23)
I should be there by then. I hope so because ND gets real old, real quick. Being out there in the sticks with nothing to do will give me a chance to practise my guitar playing though, so I no longer have to really on other musicians to help realise my musical ideas - that's something I really Hate.

I can play a bit of guitar and a bit of drums though. I could be the Sid Vicious of you guys's band.

Except for the drugs.

And the girlfriend getting killed.

In fact, no, I don't wanna be the Sid Vicious of you guys's band.

Heh, but, yeah, you should get to know someone first before going out with them. But cheer up. You'll find the right person.
