I agree that it would happen as well. I'm not even sure that it's because most people believe the originals are better, but simply because George has been so staunchly against them for so long that it's driven curiosity demand up, not to mention fear that the release would be the last one. So George basically dug his own hole. But since the decision rests in his own hands, he can keep himself from being screwed by not releasing it. Or if he ever did, it would be very low key or a very limited release to keep the sales from exceeding his own vision. Or he could do what he did with the special edition by no longer calling it the special edition. If he does not market the originals as the originals, they will draw less attention to himself. How he could do that with the special editions now being the unspecified Star Wars trilogy would be difficult, but I'm sure his ad wizards could figure it out somehow. That's assuming he'd want to in the first place, which I sincerely doubt.
