I finally had a chance to watch this last night as well (hooray for insmonia?) and I really really enjoyed it. Great step up from the version I had (which may have even been V1.0). Slick, slick, slick. Can't wait for Jedi.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

Can anybody verify if the version rikter is seeding is the same main movie (I know the covers, etc. have been added) as that which segaflip posted on a.b.starwars a few weeks ago? I'm willing to help seed, but I don't want to screw it up with a different movie.
Author
Time
Yes it's the same. All the files posted by segaflip are inside the Blaksvn torrent, along with Ash595 & adywan's covers (links posted earlier in this thread)
and Rikter's NFO.

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

I just downloaded Building Empire and I am going to make one change before I burn it to disc.
I hate Real meadia files with a passion. I have never liked the way Real Media does things, this goes way back quite a few years. I converted the Real Media file of the Wampa Attack video that was in the video subfolder in the DVD ROM folder to a standard mpeg file. I thought I would pass that along in case anyone is interested in that file so they can do the same.

I'm glad to see that 'Building Empire' is doing the rounds.

A big thanks goes to Rikter for his usual stirling effort!

Thanks also to Boba feta for the cover you've designed, it looks fantastic. I've alwasy loved that poster. Sorry I haven't replied personally but I have a full inbox and can't reply until I've deleted some. One criticism on the cover - there is a very long sentence on the back that is difficult to read. You might want to break it up. Otherwise another great addition to this project.

Great to see OT members seeding for so long at Spleen in there aswell. It justifies our love of Star Wars in the face of adversity at times. A big thanx to Ric who just like Han Solo takes on all the odds single handedly and does what needs to be done to get the results. Man, I'd be your Chewie if only i was worthy.

Watched this today. The alternate audio from the Super 8mm print of the movie is fascinating. A pity the audio from the SE was used for this. At one point in Cloud City you can hear a CG elevator going by, but no elevator can be seen. Also, there are several points in the SE mix where the original music that John Williams wrote was restored (usually shots of the Imperial fleet). In the earlier mix, these sequences were tracked with "The Imperial March". It would have been nice to have these easily located bits put on here, as well as some of the dialogue changes made to the SE, such as Han's, "Come on" being added after "Transport, this is Solo. Better take off-I can't get to you. I'll get her out on the Falcon." Threepio also has an added line after the Asteroid field chase in the SE and 2004 mix.

Also, is there any explanation for moving the first appearance of the Imperial fleet? It's awkward and feels really out of place. I'm not as familiar with Empire as I am with Star Wars, but it seems like this was the only scene that was moved in "Building Empire". At least with the Star Wars doc, the re-ordering was done to reflect an early draft and the whole thing was changed around. This one bit in Empire really bugged me though and felt more like a mistake than a recreation. During this scene, when Vader walks over to the Imperials, he walks past the control pit. I think that's a flipped shot from the end of the movie, but no mention of this is made.

Nicely done overall.

Neil

Well at least the reversed surround channels have been addressed.

I hold the same fondness of this disc as i do for Deleted Magic. The DVD Menu is a treat for McQuarie fans and will love the great transition of stills into footage from the film. Cue dots put a timeframe to interchages, very AKI to Deleted Magic and works well to avoid any confusion. Many a time i felt myself saying from the text 'i remember that', then hearing it different in the latest edition.
I cant help but feel like if Lucasfilm made a Building Empire they would have to keep things back from the fans on purpose. The credits made me smile seeing Jambe being credited alongside Geroge Lucas and Irvin Kershner -and damn right too. I love Empire the most and cant fault this project. *****

Finally got around to watching. Excellent work from the documentary to the menus. Like Deleted Magic, this is a must see for all Star Wars fans!

I love that cover, though I would be grateful if you could remove my 'name' as I think it works better without it.

In reference to the Se audio mix being used, it was simply a matter of time contraints, getting the right pictures was difficult enough! Furthermore I was also unable to include every little fact that I wanted to, as I wanted to keep a certain flow to the proceedings. There are plenty of other audio changes and flipped shots but in the end I just had to pick what I thought were the most interesting ones and run with them.

As far as moving the Imperial Fleet scene it was done to make the narrative flow a little better, and as far as I can see it's similar to how the scene would have been ordered had the extra Wampa scenes been included.

Thanks for the continued support.
