Harry Potter 4 DVD: £14.99
Big Mac Meal from McDonalds: £3.18
X-Box 360 with Ghost Recon and memory card: £259.99
Large Meat Feast Pizza from Pizza Hut: £12.99
1 litre of Tropicana Orange Juice: £1.69
Also:
My rent for a one bedroom flat: £605 per calender month (which is extremely cheap, BTW - average is about £800)
1 Litre of unleaded petrol: £0.95
Bearing in mind that I earn roughly £270 a week after tax working in a respectable and educated job working for the government and I hold a university Batchelors degree and am 25 years old and married.

OK let's transform that into dollars so we can compare to our local currency (Brazillian Real).
Harry Potter 4 DVD UK: £14.99 = US$26.08
Big Mac Meal from McDonalds UK: £3.18 = US$5.53
X-Box 360 with Ghost Recon and memory card UK: £259.99 = US$452.38
Large Meat Feast Pizza from Pizza Hut UK: £12.99 = US$22.60
1 litre of Tropicana Orange Juice UK: £1.69 = US$2.94
1 litre of petrol UK: £0.95 = US$1.65
Here (I'm trying to go by memory here, so it might not be accurate):
Harry Potter 4 DVD Brazil: R$45.00 = US$20.61
Big Mac Meal from McDonalds Brazil: R$9.00 = US$4.12
X-Box 360 with Ghost Recon and memory card Brazil: R$1200.00 = US$549.67
Large Meat Feast Pizza from Pizza Hut Brazil: R$23.00 = US$10.53 (if you are a student, you have 50% discount on some pizzas)
1 litre of Tropicana Orange Juice Brazil: R$3.00 = US$1.37
1 litre of petrol Brazil: R$2.50 = US$1.14
So I suppose we are in better shape, but most items here are not electronics. See how we pay more for electronic goods. Videogames are specially expensive here. A good PC game can cost 100 reais, about 45 dollars. A Nintendo DS game can cost 130 reais, almost 60 dollars.
