I don't get it - are we supposed to pick out overt references, or is it pointing to something more mysterious and general that we have to work out using all the elements? It just seems like a bunch of pop culture thrown together.

I see Mario, Led Zep, Stargate, Alex Kidd, Buddha, Heaven, McDonald's, yada yada yada - so what?
