Alrighty then, Billy.

Can I post the video footage on the web? It would get more hits than Lightsaber Kid.

To go way back to a topic (an off-topic?) GundarkHunter introduced...and show off my mastery of the Dark Side of trivia:

Big Trouble In Little China originally started as the sequel to...?

For bonus points, and the chance to win some nifty power converters, what was the original title?
Well...back to the ol' drawing board.

Was originally slated to be a sequel to The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension.

The French title translates to The Adventures of Jack Burton, but I doubt that's what you're looking for. Also known as John Carpenter's Big Trouble in Little China. I dunno. What's the answer?

Sorry, Bossk, no power converters for you! : (

The sequel was supposed to be Buckaroo Banzai vs. the World Crime League.

Ah, but when BTILC was first being scripted, it was supposed to be a sequel to Buckaroo Banzai. Read it on several BTILC sites.

I'm glad they distanced it (changed script/plot/etc.) and made this its own movie. Don't think it would've done nearly as well. Not that it did particularly well in theaters. But I think the cult following for it would be severely diminished.

Yes, it was. And it was to be called BB vs TWCL. The studio couldn't get financing based on that script, so it went through extensive rewriting, all traces of BB were expunged in the process, and voila: Big Trouble.

Truth is, that W.D. Richter was writing a sequel to both TAOBB:AT8D and BTILC, in which BB and Jack Burton would team up to fight an underworld crime league, but after both films' lacklustre boxoffice, the project was shelved.

The only people I know who saw it were my parents and they hated it. However, my taste in movies isn't always 100% aligned with theirs if you catch my meaning. Sounds like it might be worth a shot if only just to say that I did. I do like Peter Weller, though, as he was the original Robocop.

BTILC was definitely a fun movie. My brother and I were addicted to it when we were younger. Nobody in our family understood our addiction. But, my brother and I have a weird taste in films when we're together. We also worship Hudson Hawk. That should tell you something.

If you liked Hudson Hawk, then you'll like BB. It's got the right amount of absurdity to actually work. Plus, what's not to like about a film that features John Lithgow, Christopher Lloyd and Vincent Schiavelli as the villains, an early appearance by Carl Lumbly (of Alias) as a Rastafarian alien, and Jeff Goldblum and Clancy Brown as members of Buckaroo's Hong Kong Cavaliers? Did I neglect to mention that the DVD features and extended opening with Jamie Lee Curtis as BB's mom? This is one fun movie!

Oh, don't worry, that's what I was planning to do. Don't want to buy something like that which is unproven in my mind. Rather spend the money on something else and I've got a heckuva list of DVDs I want to buy.

Yeah, me too. I picked up Matrix Reloaded for $20 last week, but still haven't gotten around to buying Alias:S1. A student budget will only stretch so far.

I have yet to buy either of the seasons of CSI on DVD and s3 is coming out in December, I believe. They're just too expensive. Still trying to scrounge to get the money for Indy. That'll take some work.
