Howard The Duck - special edition (Released)

First off, I’m not making a joke. This film has its fans, and a Widescreen version of it, as well as the original trailer, TV and radio spots and interviews from around the release date might be fun. There was also a Howard video that I remember seeing on TV. Your thoughts everyone?

I'd dig seeing a widescreen version of this, if you can track it down.

I have a 12" remix single of the theme song at home. That's a good time.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

I'm not aware of any widescreen release of Howard. (I could kick myself now for passing on a 35mm print that was on ebay a couple years back! Like I had any way to run it!) When it hit pay per view, the "Duckumetary" teaser and music video were in heavy rotation on the preview channels, so somebody must have taped them back then. I just found one trailer on Utube.
There are actually two versions of the music video. The first version is edited to avoid showing what Howard looks like before the movie was released, and the second has Howie in all his ducky glory.

"He's our leader." George Lucas, Howard the Duck teaser trailer.

EDIT: dcfcfan beat me to it!

I remember seeing a DVD version released on usenet a couple of years back that was taken from the pan and scan vhs tape. The widescreen version of the movie was released on laserdisc and I've seen that go up on eBay a few times. The price range was way out of my league though...

There was never a widescreen version available on ANY format, including laserdisc.

Darn... I thought the LD was in widescreen... I must be getting senile. I'll have to check some of my boxes of discs from two years ago to see if I downloaded that pan and scan DVD version.

I soooo love this film.

I could kick you too for this!

Is it widescreen?

I remember someone here had a widescreen version of "The Keep" on DVD, but I never heard from him again. I got the P&S LD off of Ebay, but I've not had a chance to watch it.

Howard was shown on BBC TV here in the UK in widescreen a couple of years back. I had to have taped it, so I'll take a look.

Of course, it'll be PAL, but maybe you could frame it down and get it to synch next to the NTSC videocassette?

I'd be willing to suffer the PAL version.

Hey...

Sorry for my frankly shite timing - I'm actually a director, helming my first project and getting more and more tied up in production. I was actually thinking of starting a thread up for people to stay in contact directly since I am not getting the time to keep up to date and on track of the few threads I'd like to help out on - there's so much going on here that I'd like to have done myself or be able to participate in!

I found the "Howard The Duck" taping from TV here - great news - though it is only PAL VHS, it is in anamorphic widescreen and what I suspect is probably Dolby (Pro Logic) surround.

My only problem is...I have no home equipment - it's all pro-stuff at an edit suite at Elstree Studios. Therefore, the only formats I can really play out to easily are VHS (but then losing a generation) and DVCam (note NOT MiniDV. DVCam is the pro-version of that and uses the same size tape but at a faster, non-drop out pitch. DVCam will not automatically play back on home camcorders, but some may surprise).

Burning to DVD has never been needed as an option (it's all usually done out of house), although I have been thinking about a DVD recorder for home. This will probably wait until after the shoot is done, which will be a few months. So...if anyone can handle DVCam and get that coverted, let me know. It'll be PAL of course, and recording the contents to tape will have to be fit in as and when I can, but I'll get it done eventually!

I miss Howard. I was this close to buying a bootleg DVD on Ebay yesterday. Hell, I almost grabbed a copy of Damnation Alley because I was reminded of it in this forum, too.

[EDIT] It just occurred to me...since so many people on this website would have no problem owning a P&S version of one of the worst films ever, maybe that's why Lucas thought he could get away with an old-school transfer of the OOT.

Damnation Alley is supposed to be in the works from Anchor Bay. I will be very annoyed if they don't do a docu on the real star of that film!

LOL...that's so cool. There's a place by Newport Beach that has one of the dune buggies from MegaForce out in front. I wonder if it's still there.

You guys let me know when Damnation Alley comes out, 'kay?
