Okay here is some noob advice...

I suggest getting either TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6 or TSUNAMI MPEG DVD Author PRO as these may well be the simplist DVD author programs I've ever used...

Step 1 - Get the software (you can buy it at tmpg-inc.com) and install it

Step 2 - BE SURE that you have at least say about 20 gigs of free space on your PC (if you have a mac sorry bud you'll need other info) or you can use an external HD (that's what I do )

Step 3 - Gather the DVD's you want to use for this project.

Step 4 - Now use "DVD Decrypter" to rip the FIRST DVD to your hard drive (aim it to your C drive) it will create a folder with the same name as the DVD your ripping (or you can name the folder yourself) - ALSO be sure to go to the MODE pulldown in Decrypter and select FILE. this should take about 5-15 minutes based on your PC - AGAIN only rip the first DVD otherwise you'll fill up your HD SUPER FAST!

Step 5 - NOW you fire up TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6 or TSUNAMI MPEG DVD Author PRO - ONCE it up and running select "NEW PROJECT", now select "add DVD Video" and browse to the DVD that you just ripped select the VIDEO_TS folder and the DVD author program will now import the DVD in the program. YOU'll then see a new Pop up window (select title) and you just need to select the longest title and audio from the pulldown (which should be your movie, the short ones are the extras and such) SELECT NEXT at this screen you'll have the two options of "reading chapter information" and "Copy to HD" LEAVE both unchecked NOW SELECT OKAY, AGAIN you'll get a new screen at the top you'll see the button "CHAPTER CUT EDITING" you'll now get a video screen with a drag bar, use this drag bar and the "SET AS START FRAME" & "SET AS END FRAME" to select the video range you wish to include NOW SELECT okay again. This will take you back to the main program.

Step 6 - NOW select "CREATE MENU" and use the pulldown to select "NO MENU" then select the "OUTPUT" button on the top, this will take you to the output screen where you will see an "OUTPUT FOLDER" option with an output path.... C:\Documents and Settings\Master\My Documents\TMPGEnc DVD - NOW you need to change the output path by either just replacing the last portion like this - C:\Documents and Settings\pockets\My Documents\JAWS CLIP or you can just create a folder and use the "BROWSE" option to aim to that folder - NOW hit "BEGIN OUTPUT" this process should take about 10-20 minutes or less based on your chosen clip.

Step 7 - Verify the output, then DELETE the original ripped DVD folder and then RIP the second DVD and so on until you have all your desired clips on your HD.

Step 8 - Be sure that all the ripped DVD's are deleted then FIRE up TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6 or TSUNAMI MPEG DVD Author PRO again. START NEW PROJECT > Under the "SOURCE SETUP" just select "ADD DVD VIDEO" browse to your desired first clip then it will be imported, once it's in select the "ADD NEW TRACK" and so on until all your clips are imported. THEN you select "CREATE MENU" here you can create a new menu if you wish (so you can select individual clips)

Step 9 - MENU Creation, you can use the premade menu options to make your menu or you can chose a custom menu (visit videohelp.com for details on how to do this or just google "TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6 tutorial"

Step 10 - Output your final DVD then burn with your favorite DVD burning program and your done. YOU should now have a CLIP/DEMO DVD that can be played on your 60" with the proper sound and video quaity!!

HOPE THIS HELPS and BEST OF LUCK!!!!
