And to just add something about stick on labels, after experimenting more with my DVDs, I've found out that the stick-labels changed nothing of the outcome of the disc. It was either the brand of disc I was using, or the speed. I burn all my stuff now with HP DVD-Rs at 4x (the discs are rated 8x) and use stick on labels all the way to the hub, and I've had no problems so far. Unfortunately, I have to reburn all the DVDs I burned beforehand. Groan. Such is life.
