Might be worth posting the alternative mono audio track for ANH as well - the one I made by slowing down the audio from the UK ITV broadcast. Then those who want a version with the original theatrical mono sound can make their own by replacing the Dolby track.

I'm not fishing for compliments, but has anyone seen this and willing to give some input/a review? (Others without copies yet are probably curious too).
I just wonder what other people think of this, and if my crazy effort ended up being worthwhile.

Just got it off ABSW today, thanks to Segaflip, and hope to burn and watch this weekend. Depends on my mood after the Notre Dame basketball game Saturday!

But I'm really looking forward to it, screenshots look great.

I loved it.

Technically, I thought maybe the lightening/whitening was a bit overdone in some places, and for some reason the screen looked fuzzy about 1/3 of the way from the top, but within two minutes I didn't notice that anymore.

I just watched and enjoyed. It was great--I totally forgot I was supposed to be "evaluating," which I would take as a sign that you (and, of course, Moth3r) did a great job.

Sorry you don't like the brighter whites, it's actually really really minor compared to moth3r's original.

As far as the fuzzy area near the top, unfortunately that's a bit of an artifact from the sharpening process. When a black border crosses into the actual video the filter assumes it's an edge. That can leave a bright white band across it. To stop it you have to mask the filter to prevent it from sharping the first line or two on all 4 sides. This causes it's own artifacting, but not nearly as distracting as the white line.

Before anyone asks, yes I did try cropping all borders before sharpening but for some reason that screwed up the unsharp filter causing weird diagonal black lines across the picture. It had to be sharpened before all other filters.

I told you there were trade offs.

No, no, I was just surprised by some of the whites. Like I said, it was NEVER distracting.

It was a great piece of work, and you should be really proud of it. Usually I remain focused on the transfer quality while watching. This time, I eased back and just watched a movie. Okay, fine: I watched the first half of the movie then I began to rant about the Ewoks.

Is there any chance of someone posting an Idiots Guide to adding the Moth3r NTSC Mono soundtrack to Dr M ANH.

I managed to do the PAL version a while ago but am really struggling to do this one.

My perfect disc will have the existing PCM track and the Mono track too which I am sure can be done.

The file I have is from the newsgroup (I think) and is called mono_ntsc.ac3

4 - 5 - 3 - 1 - 6 - 2

russ, I did this a while ago. Wasn't hard. I just ripped Dr. M's version, and ran it through DVD-Lab Pro, added both tracks, chapters, and the results were fine. It even fit on a single layered disc.

Here are some quick covers i made up. I did use some backs from a cover set that i did not create so i take no credit for the backs. Anyways they are pretty quick and simple but they tell me which set it is from the spine so that is all I need.
Oh yes one more thing they are designed for thin cases.

I'm in the same boat here. Since it looks like it's up to fan editors to do real work on the O-OT and Lucasfilm seems uninterested in presevation. PM me anybody. Okay, what does PIF mean? I know it's probably a stupid question.

There's good in the Original Trilogy, and it's worth fighting for.
