Kill Bill Vol. 1 could be a better demo test case than Vol. 2. Like a lot of other Miramax DVDs (Cold Mountain, Hero, Gangs of New York), KBv1 was a nasty filtered mess of a transfer that lost a ton of high-frequency detail when one of the engineers got a bit over-enthusiastic with some of the tools at his disposal. Vol 2, in comparison, looked noticeably better. If there was a clean, unfiltered new tranfer (or at least new post-processing job) of KBv1 for Blu-Ray, it'd make for a much more impressive A-B comparison with DVD than Vol. 2 would.

Of course, I doubt the Disney/Miramax folks picked Vol. 1 for that reason.
