Great job MeBe. It was good to see that as my DC ESB LD has one spot on it when Luke is first seen riding up on a Taun Taun (sp?). I'm looking forward to more.

Wow... just wow....

I am in awe of the amount of detail, how meticulous you guys are with the work.

Like everyone else, I want to see the DVD asap, but would rather have you guys do it right than do it hastilly. Looks like you're on the right path. Keep up the phenomenal work, and rock on!

LOL..thanks, guys. I was sure everyone would laugh at me for even thinking about taking on this undertaking again.

There's another segment that we've been debating about showing. I call it "6 seconds", because that's how long the scene is, filmwise. Total correction time, however, is well over 15 minutes.

" I jsut saw X0 footage!!!!!!!!!!"

Well, through my camcorder. Future showings may be done with screen-cap software for easier viewing.

BTW, anybody like the music? Anybody recognize it?

I reccomend Camtasia for screencaping software.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

I also recognised the music but it looks like phraseturner beat me to it in terms of posting it here. However, great music.

I can totally respect you guys for cleaning up each and every frame. I tried to do it with the Anchorhead scenes, but I had to drop the project due to technical limitations with my machine. Pain in the Hinder.

LOL...haven't we all?

"I tried to do it with the Anchorhead scenes"

What, if I may ask, were you trying to fix, specifically? I know that I am not looking forward to fixing the scenes on the Lars ranch. For some reason, they are FULL of tiny dropouts - several on each frame. Tedious, tedious...

So we can expect to see ANH finished by next Christmas, right? That's not a dig or anything, it just looks like a painstakingly long process. I'm sure that that little bit of cleanup in that one frame is just the beginning.

Take as long as you need.

Different scenes require different amounts of work. The Lars scenes are difficult because there's little bits of stuff amongst other little bits of stuff - some belong, some don't. Maybe I'll try to find my original clean up and put up a comparison shot.

Other shots are easier - the "committee" scene with Vader, Tarkin and all the Moffs has a couple of dropouts, but they are white against the black background of the chamber, making them easy to spot and fix. On the Faces set, the first scene of R2 in the Jawa valley and the gang overlooking Mos Eisley have rolling dropouts, meaning I have to track their downward movement on successive frames.

Now, the DC may not have these same problems, or may have them in different areas. I've not gone over this transfer frame by frame to the same length yet, so I'm just taking it as it comes, but one thing's for sure - these problems actually become more pronounced by the X0 player (meaning problems in the LD mastering become much more visible.) Ironically, while it makes them more visible, it also makes them easier to find.

I'd certainly like to have ANH well done by Christmas, but I make no promises.

Anchorhead, eh. The scene began with Luke jumping out of his landspeeder and running into Tosche Station. The shots had burnt in spots, embedded dirt, a few frames were actually cracked in some spots, and I think I spotted a fingerprint. The footage is a mess. In addition to being rough cut footage, it was also very pixilated due to encoding on the Behind the Magic DVD Rom. I just experimented with painting out the smudges and scratches and re-alligning the broken frames. I wasn't able to save the work, so I gave up on it.

When you guy eventually show clips from film will you have it spilt screen for before and after? Or maybe even the XO project compared to the DVD's? I know i'm thinking probably to much into the future lol

That would be awesome! Maybe something akin to the WookieGroomer SplitScreen edit where the cleaned up version is on top and the original capture is on the bottom could be done.

Of course, we probably shouldn't even be thinking about something like that until this project is completed.

Well, a lot of cleaned-up scenes wouldn't benefit from that layout, because a good 90% of the fixes being made are tiny drop-outs. The resolution of each video would have to be significantly reduced to play both in their entirety on the screen. A splitscreen with each video talking up half the space would be much better.

Hi Rob. Yes this is the place for all updates X0 here on OT. If you haven't already, sign up for the newsletter on the web site. I usually send out updates to the mailing list before I post them here.

This month, we've been working on getting X0 merch made up to sell on the site. I've been trying to create a web store for the site, as well as update the graphics with the new logo.

As far as new content is concerned, MeBe is close to finishing the initial video for what will eventually be our second web doc. I should have more news on that very soon.

As you guys are trying to be completely faithful to the original look and color of the films, there is something I've noticed that I've been curious about. What color should the sky be in the close up of the two suns during the binary sunset scene, bluish purple or reddish orange? Now at first this would seem like a original vs special edition issue but it's more tricky than that. Here's what I've noticed:
Making of Star Wars- red
Star Wars to Jedi- blue
1992 vhs tape (cover has theatrical poster)- red
Cowclops dvd transfer from '93 THX Def. Coll. laserdisc- blue
Special edition onward-red
So what color should it be? And does anyone know the reason for this pre-special edition inconsistancy?
