This is over-simplistic, but it isnt' discussed enough: We aren't using that money for it's best purposes. If we allocated more money (not just tax dollars but all those offering plate donations that go to third-world relief) helping Africans to actually develop their land into productive farmland, they'd have a source of food AND income as the worlds population increases.

It's like the old addage "Give a man a fish and he won't be hungry for a day. Teach a man to fish and he'll never go hungry again."
