Sounds good.. I agree, I don't see the point of those scenes as they don't add anything to the story. The scenes don't flesh out Pacino's character, or add to his motivations in any way, or alter his behavior or attitudes. It just shows he's the stereotypical "cop with family problems" guy, but mainly just slow the film down. If his daughter or wife had been put into jeopardy, the scenes may have served a purpose, but every time I watch the film I just wonder why they're there.
