Heat (Action Edition) - This would basically remove as much of the family drama stuff, and the kid trying to kill herself stuff, and some of the other character's relationship drama stuff, and keep only what's neccessary to keep it a lean mean action movie. Might not work, but it would be interesting,

Of all the suggestions, I am intrigued by this one the most. I feel that it is perhaps very doable. I think I'm going to add this to my "to-do" list.

How about a stripped down Starship Troopers, taking out all of the character guff? Mostly an effects reel, with some semblence of a story left in. I like a lot of the stuff in this movie, but the '90210 in space' parts make it mostly unwatchable for me.

Could segments of the sequel be added as a B story occuring on the the night side of the planet?

Freddy Got Fingered with the deleted scenes and additional music Tom Green mentions in the commentaries.

Funny you should bring up "Starship Troopers".
As a little side project, I had been working on a fast moving striped down version of "ROUGHNECKS: Starship Troopers Chronicles”. I've got most of the "Pluto Campaign" cut so far. The computer art version of "Starship Troopers" is so much better then the live action films. Now with all the other projects I've taken on, ROUGHNECKS has somehow been put on hiatus. Hope I can get back to it soon.

I'd like to do this one, but I'm thinking of just cutting out the drama that plagues Pacino's character. I find that leaving the criminals' love stories & interests would keep the story, and the ending, interesting. The whole ordeal with Pacino's cop having to deal with that b!tch of a gf and her whiney daughter could easily be chopped out, but would it be worth it? I love Natalie Portman, but her character makes me want to puke.

Let me know the interest level. I mean, I'm interested in doing it but how many are interested in having an edit of this?

I think this will be difficult. But I would be interested in seeing that.

Nothing about fanediting is easy.

Freddie Got Fingered: What deleted scenes are those?

The Beatles: Magical Mystery Tour is derided as an awful movie, but it would be pretty easy to make this into a better movie - you'd have complete control to do literally anything with it. It's obvious that it needs more good song sequences ("Flying" and "Blue Jay Way" aren't cutting it) - you could mimic the album, include every song from that - I mean the second side of the album, the non-movie side ... So you'd cut in the vids for Hello Goodbye, Strawberry Fields, Penny Lane, you'd do a vid for Baby You're a Rich man, and then do All You Need is Love in some interesting way. Add a song whenever it's getting dull. You could fuck around with the structure of the movie constantly, it's random footage anyway. Plenty of outtakes in Anthology including Paul lipsynching during Fool On the Hill. Make it a big mindfuck celebration of the Magical Mystery Tour album.

Dedicate the remains to Ivor Cutler and Viv Stanshall and George and John and Brian Epstein and ...

doh, how about...

removing "the message" from disney films - http://www.originaltrilogy.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=11&threadid=3896

lightsaber edition of equilibrium and ultraviolet - all those swords get boring... maybe just a lightsaber trailer?

"starship troopers propaganda movie" - akin to the 50's and 60's usa propaganda films. need an old narrator smoking to do it justice!

"The Last Samurai Batman" - replace tom cruise with batman (preferably michael keaton version) in the entire movie. have him saying great batman one liners etc. i've never seen the last samurai... got this idea from watching the trailer.

"escape from earth" - using footage from: the thing, escape from ny/la, big trouble in little china and soldier to create the third movie in john carpenter's trilogy!!!! (does anyone have the escape from earth script? i want to read it!!!)

"resident evil 1.5" - combine and edit res evil 1+2 to remove a bunch of crap and make the 1st ending blend perfectly with the beginning of 2nd. i'd also remove the flashbacks and amnesia parts, and all of the backstory.

re: shaun of the dead edit, how about splicing in some scenes from spaced?

Somehow I suspect someone could reedit Schumacher's awful Phantom of the Opera film to replace their non-singer Phantom with Michael Crawford's voice (and other voices from the original soundtrack) wherever possible, and remove the "sideshow boy" flashback. That would be neat. Emmy Rossum and her lowcut dresses can stay though. =)

(This is sounding like a better and better idea to me. Some creative editing could fix some of Schumacher's more uninspired camera angles and lighting - if a closer shot is needed on a too-wide shot, one could grab the pan & scan version and letterbox that, to get a closer take ... chromakey and filters could make any colored lighting more subtle ...)

Please, if you are considering this, that would be awesome. I've been after a visual performance of Phantom with Crawford in the starring role, any that were available have long been deleted. This would be the next best option and the idea is utterly fantastic.

"Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan"

Melding the U.S.A. Pan and Scan video version with the ABC T.V. extended versions extra scenes.
If there is a fan edit of this, I did a search and can't find any info.

From IMDB:

A "Director's Edition" was released on DVD in August 2002, which features three minutes of footage not in the theatrical release.

NOTE:

The Director's Edition does NOT use the ABC-tv version of Kirk and Saavik's conversation in the turbolift, which was more "steamy" and used close-ups.

The Kobayashi Maru simulator computer has more dialogue in the ABC version.

When Scotty reports the radiation leak near the end of the movie, an alarm has been dubbed into the Director's Edition that was not in other versions.

I have a DVD of the first broadcast of Wrath of Khan. The one Rikter has might be (read: probably is) better.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

When KING KONG comes out on DVD I'm severely re-cutting that...

my butt hurt after THREE FREAKING HOURS!! The old 1933 KING KONG was just as good and was 2.5 hours SHORTER!!!

I'm turning KONG into a 1 hour 40 minute movie... and see how it goes... and I'll try making Kong more ferocious....
somehow....

woops... sorry this is a wish thread...

I wish to see....

STAR WARS I, II, III, IV, V, and VI all cut together into ONE FILM.

LOTR Trilogy... all three into one film....

hey, by the way... I re-cut Matrix 2 and 3 and merged them together... the time of the compiled cuts is 2 hours and 40 minutes!
yeah I really cut stuff out of Reloaded...

I don't know what else I'd like to see...

This is already planned I believe, Jackson is planning to put out a re-cut super extended chronological edit, for the Blu-ray/ HD-DVD release.

In the "Isolated Score Tracks - Your Wishlists" thread, I was joking about someone making an isolated score track for "2001: A Space Odyssey". Yes, it would be pointless (that's the joke).

Now today I was thinking how kewl it would be if someone would make a new version of this film using the original Alex North score as recorded by Jerry Goldsmith as one of the audio tracks. There can be two audio tracks one with the original versions music and another with North's score.

Anyone?

hello, i'm new here. gotta say....LOVE THE WORK GOING ON HERE!

anyway. i was discussing with my friend about a redit of Star wars Episodes 1,2 and 3 into one 4 hour movie epic. i was thinking Episode 1 could be used as flashback footage and use 2 and 3 as the main narrative of the film. just an idea but if anyone wants to discuss it further, please feel free

anyone think it would be possible to recut an mst3k show/movie by replacing the movie on screen? e.g. replace 'the brain that wouldnt die' with 'the man with two brains' (the bruce campbell movie)?

even use footage from multiple episodes to compile your own mst3k episode... hell, you could cut something and let them mst3k a simpsons episode!

yes.... thats what i need...

A recut with a different film might be a bit quirky. The jokes wouldn't make much sense. There is a guy who has done his own MST3K episodes. I came across one of Star Trek V that he did.

Not to mention there's no way of seperating the commentary by the cast of the show from the audio of the film they're riffing.

I guess you could just use their silhouettes and dub your own jokes over the film. We are a creative bunch.

Or MST3K could just come back on the air!!!

Unfortunately due to the fact that both edits have been issued to members of the film's cast and/or crew they are being kept "under wraps" you could say to prevent them from being sold by bootlegers. The X-Cut was produced specifically for cast members and given to them at a Phantasm "reunion" event I believe.

Two new ideas

Freddy VS Jason - Bootleg Cut - adding all the deleted scenes and effects long wiith the alternate opening and ending

Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) - Bootleg cut - same as above. it would be cool to see the deleted bookend sequences cut back in.

best thing about these titles on DVD is that the deleted footage is of finished quality!
