Hi people,

In this thread I am releasing concept video clips which show extracts from the Star Wars movies with changed music.

I hope that these clips represent an inspiration for every fan editor. This is my contribution to this community.

In my opinion the score creates at least the half of the atmosphere of a movie.

I always thought that, apart from the special effects, one big element in the PT that is different from the OT is the music, the score. Don’t get me wrong, I love the music John Williams wrote for the PT, there are some great titles like “Duel of the Fates”, “Across the Stars” and “Battle of the Heroes”, and I really enjoy them. And every single title John Williams wrote fits into the situation in the movies for which they have been written.

… we know that choices have been made to use some other music for some scenes than the music JW has intented to be there (e.g. “The Arena” in AotC)…

But replacing music in the PT with other music of the PT is not the point I want to work on. (Maybe a bit). It’s what I have already said: “Every single title John Williams wrote fits into the situations in the movies for which they have been written.” That’s right. But to me and my feeling as a Star Wars fan the music of the PT seldom creates the same Star Wars atmosphere like in the OT. The Force Theme is used very rarely compared to episodes IV,V and VI.

I want to create the atmosphere of Episodes IV, V and VI by using the music of these episodes and some bits from KotOR and SotE and more.

Sometimes I’m experimenting with music from other sources which absolutely doesn’t match the Star Wars feeling but I it to be interesting. So don’t expect to much of those clips!

This was actually a project of changing most of the music of a complete episode. I canceled the work because it was too hard to get rid of all of the old music and still maintaining the dialogue and sound effects without having to build up everything from scratch.
