Hey-a... I was just browsing around the STAR WARS: Ultimate Visual guide
and I stumbled upon lots of fan-made expanded universe additions to the compendium.

The more I read about it, the more fan-boyish and non-star wars-ish it became.
I now find out that most (I said MOST not all) of this EU stuff is really annoying
and sometimes very dark and very far-fetched to be part of the 'actual' STAR WARS
Universe... is this stuff "official"? Meaning it's sealed (just like the film's stuff) and no
one can alter it?

I'm sorry If I somehow offended anyone, but it's just really kinda' dumb.
Too many Jedi too many serious soul/altar/force-monks/possessions, etc.
That hardly fits into a STAR WARS film let alone a STAR WARS happening...

do any of you agree to this? I hope I'm not the only one, because I think
STAR WARS is how it is on screen... some EU stuff is a great addition, but usually
it feels too 'icky' you know what I mean?

Just like the über-seriousness of a scene in CLONE WARS (vol.1) where those
female Jedi are in that Lightsaber-o-matic™ Crystal-Temple-Cave-Thing and
are crouched and using the force and being terribly serious as if this was some
kind of a super-sacred ritual by adding the crystal into the handle.
Compare that to Episode IV, V, VI, I, II, heck even III... the whole Jedi mannerism
and atmosphere of the universe isn't that serious.. that's what I like about Star Wars!
It's here for epic, great, heroic entertainment! Never overtly dark (save Ep3... it was supposed to be)
nor super-sacred™ seriousness! Thank you.
