Free DVD cases

I found out something today that made me ecstatic! http://67.18.37.16/2087/182/emo/4.gif

I was grabbing a job application at a local Subway Sandwich chain and on my way out, I noticed a box full of DVD cases outside of the Blockbuster store right next door. (For those of you that are outside the US/may not know...Blockbuster is a large video-game and DVD rental chain store).

I realized that many people pay money for standard, blank amaray cases. I walked inside and asked what the deal was.

They had just gotten a shipment of brand new DVD's into the store, and since they place the DVD's into special Blockbuster cases that the cashier unlocks, they cant do anything with the factory cases. Therefore, they were placed outside ready to go right into the dumpster.

I asked if I could please have them, and they gave them to me FREE OF CHARGE!

I have a huge box now filled with both 1 and 2 disc cases. Some green ones too, which must have come from an x-box game or something.

So basically, go check out some of your local rental stores and ask what they do with their cases. Who knows, you might get lucky like I did.

Now I have a place to put all these awesome fan projects/edits!!!

I used to work at a Virgin Megastore and when ordering CD/DVD cases, I'd ask my boss to add on an extra box to the order, so when the delivery came I'd have 250 cases for my own personal use. Being that they were delivered in huge boxes, it was a bitch to get them home, but worth it.

I wish this still worked for me. For the last several months, my local Blockbuster has gotten all their DVDs pre-packed in the lockable cases. All they have to do is slap barcode stickers on them and toss 'em on the shelf.

It's worth asking any retail outlet that sells DVDs or PS2/XBox/PC games, they will all need DVD cases for display purposes, just ask if they have any spare.

I was able to do that for a while here, but they are now wise to my antics.

Sorry to dissapoint, Zion...but c'mon...use your noggin; you're smarter than that

But anyways, yeah...it cant hurt to try any of those sort of stores and ask what they do with their cases. You've really got nothing to lose.

Write a letter and say that you need them for charity.

...Or you could just cut the lock.
