I am new here. Tell me all the abbreviations and lingo that will be used on these forums

Seriously though, we don't use any lingo here that wouldn't be used at a million other websites. And if you do come across something that you don't understand, just ask in the topic itself. What you're asking here is kind of vague anyhow.

And if you're too embarassed to ask, this site will work wonders for you.

Gentlemen, you can’t fight in here, this is the war room!

Actually the PT, OT, OOT, GL, LFL, etc etc could possibly be a little confusing to new folks.

Anyone want to volunteer to put together a sticky dictionary of OT.Com frequently used terms? I would but some SOB stole my BVDs while I was down with OPP rendering me SOL after the SNAFU went FUBAR.

And welcome to the boards Zach!!! We're a little bit crazy here but our therapists say its OK!

I believe that SNAFU and FUBAR are interchangable, so putting them like that wouldn't work (or knowing me I'm just wrong ).

Yeah, I suppose that if you are unfamiliar with Star Wars itself, the abbreviations might seem odd, but for a general fan I don't think it will be too hard to pick up.

I think the most important ones to know are:

GL - George Lucas
HC - Hayden Christensen
RM - Rick McCallum
ILM - Industrial Light and Magic
LFL - Lucasfilm
PT - Prequel Trilogy
OT - Original Trilogy
SE - Special Edition
OOT - Original Original Trilogy
ANH - A New Hope
ESB/TESB - The Empire Strikes Back
ROTJ - Return of the Jedi
TPM - The Phantom Menace
AOTC - Attack of the Clones
ROTS - Revenge of the Sith
SW - Star Wars
IMO/IMHO - In my opinion/In my humble opinion

And a new one I figured out last week: 'ITA' means 'I totally agree'.

The Urban Dictionary is also really good when you get stuck.

Thanks for handling those - I was in a bit of a rush. I also discovered this morning that 'trb' is not an abbreviation of 'turban', but rather, my username! I prefer capitals, though, people - bit of respect!

Oh yeah, that one's in my signature and I even forgot it!

BSG is Battlestar Gallactica (learned that one today).

TF.n is TheForce.net.

Anything else?
