Hey Warbs, I heard many, many years ago that the city of Philly was trying to get Stallone to take back the Rocky statue at the top of the stairs, the one used in the movies. Do you remember this or know if it actually happened?

I don't remember that. I do remember a big fight over where the statue should be kept. A lot of people wanted it to be kept in front of the Art Museum which is where it is in the movies, and alot of people thought it should be kept in the staduim complex with the statues of Philly athletes. I believe has been in the stadium complex after Rocky 5 was made. I'm sure it got moved back to the art museum for the filming of Rocky 6. I don't know why the city of Philadelphiia for fight Stallone to take the statue back. If the city didn't want the thing(and I'm sure that is not so), and Stallone didn't want to take the statue back, the city could just throw the thing in the trash.

I don't hate Rocky. I hate Stallone is doing to the Rocky legend. The first one was a classic. It should have stopped there.

“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

funny thing, warbler, is that rocky wouldn't have been a legend without the sequels. it would have been just a good movie. matter of fact, imho, the legend happened at part 4. you have to remember, the 80s were a different breed of movies.

The problem is, all anyone remembers is that the sequels were bad, and that there were too many of them. No one remembers that the first one is a classic. You just let the sequels overshadow the original yourself. The 1st one was made in 1976 not the '80s. Just how many Rocky movies do we need? The poster in Airplane II is becoming more and more true. It must be stopped.

most everyone remembers rocky as a classic. sure, it's a bit slow at times, but that was the style back in the 70s. I enjoy all the rocky movies (except part III. blech). i'm sure i will enjoy part 6. there has been a nice break of time (16 or 17 years depending on when it will be released) to where the story might finally catch up with the classic that began it all.
