Actually, kanji is one of the Japanese character sets. The part that says "Sutaa Uo-ozu" is in katakana, which is used for foreign loan words.

There are several books available in Japan (not manga) that have artwork on the cover that's different again from the stuff posted here. Haven't bought any, so I can't post samples, sadly...

Hey Guys,

hope that coov doesn't kill me, but I added some text to the back of anh fancy. The pic is not as black as the cover, so I sprinkeled the edges... check it out! What do you think?

They are interesting, however, on your first cover, it says THE Star Wars.

I know that its the original name for the film, but it technically doesnt match with what is on the actual film.

Just a small nitpick though.

On that Manga Jedi cover, the beak-painting-outing is great, but the "Star Wars," "Return of the Jedi" and other DVD logos are pasted on there really amateurishly. Jagged bits of black show up all around the white material .... something awry in Photoshop - need to change the contrast on that layer, or do the select/pasting over again ...


Please do this though, as it's a damn nice cover otherwise.

I noticed that too, but didn't want to be the one to say it. I was planning to fix it myself but haven't got the time right now. If Darth Solo or somebody else wants to fix it, I would be grateful because I really, really dig those covers.

Guess the black levels are slightly off on my TFT because i hadn't noticed till i printed them out. They were never properly finished but on the strength of requests i posted them. I will go back into them and correct this, and possibly make some diskart as well (afterall i spent most of yesterday making some for other projects). The black artifacts around the images are down to the limitations of using MSPaint i think. Guess i need to grab a copy of photoshop then...

the problem but is for the most people photoshop is also "free", I also use Gimp!
Theres also a nice Version calles GimpShop!

Wow...I just looked through this ENTIRE thread.

I had nothing to do this morning so i started briefing through from the beginning.


Truly impressive stuff.

As a whole though, I am going to have to say that Coov's covers are my personal favorites because they are original and unique looking. I can take a gander at them and I just know its a "COOV".

I also like some of the stuff by Ell as well. (Mainly the landscape covers)

Also...those manga covers rock my cock.

I think I will use those for my cowclops v2 transfers because they have the laserdisc logo on the spine.


All in all...great covers guys. You should feel proud knowing you have surpassed the quality of the official artwork.
Doesnt it make you cringe knowing that some schmuck got a FAT paycheck to design those DVD covers for the PT/OT and that the work you have done was not only exponentially better but was probably completed a lot quicker?

I went through and "de-assified" everything in ROTJ and SW, and was going to do ESB after dinner tonight.

A few requests here, I'm needing covers for the:

Dark Jedi pan & scan set
OCP Special Edition Hype


Also, I have the Dark Jedi Definitive Collection set, is there specific art for this, or will any DC cover set do?

I've got both of Rikters covers DVDs, couldn't see them on there thogh. Can anyone help me out?

Ell the Ewok made a nice landscape-style cover (well, the front of it is lanscape at least....) for OCP's Special Edition Hype.

I dont want to use his bandwith by posting the cover, but you can find it fairly easily by going to his site (to go there, click HERE )..then click on the tab for "Dvd covers" and go all the way down. It is in the right hand column. Click on the preview to get the full size one.

As for some of the others..I'm not sure if there are specific covers out there for them...if not, then I would recommend either some of the stuff by Coov, Ell (take a look at what he has to offer while picking up "SEH"), or Darth Solo's Manga Covers. All of which can be found in this thread.
