I do not feel offended by any of the movies included in that list. I can handle it.

I think Phantom Menace is the only movie on the list I've actually seen.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

You lucky, lucky man.

'Speed 2' (I had a free ticket) encouraged me to rip my eyes out and then mail them to Jan De Bont. I didn't though.

i am suprised mortal combat wasnt on there, i though D&Der 2 would be ranked higher.

Dumb and Dumberer was the only other one that I was in a position to watch, but I could tell immediately that it was going to be a crapfest, so I purposely avoided it.

Oh, wait! I've also seen Revenge of the Nerds 2! I'm not sure how it's that bad, though. It's certainly better than the next two incarnations...

i think ive seen like 12 on the list, I'm not saying those arent bad sequals, but i probably would have picked some different ones (cant think of what off the top of my head, could just be cause of what ive seen though) I might also reorder their list a bit, how i couldnt tell you unless i looked at it again and dont feel like doing that right now.

I got some titles confused and for some reason thought there was another movie before revenge of the nerds and that was a sequal, making revenge of the nerds 2 a 3rd installment, whatever its been a long day...so anyway looked it up on IMDB and cleared it all up, but also saw this http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0426560/ maybe that should be in the bitch about remakes thread (think there was one of those) but all i can say is please god no

also, I thought i heard that Ocean's 12 was pretty good? I havent seen it but from what i remember hearing i thought it was good.

I certainly didn't like Ocean's Twelve. It just seemed like a rip-off, but with all the same actors.

I can't believe MK: Annhilataion wasn't on that list.

It definitely deserved to be on it more than "Matrix Reloaded" or "The Phantom Menace"...

Heck, The Phantom Menace wasn't even a sequel!!

Does the original have to be good for it to be on this list? Because there are some like... American Pie 2 and American Wedding that are sequels to a bad movie to start with.

Yeah the media is kind of stupid movie-wise these days.

I am suprised that none of the Rocky sequels made it on the list. They are so bad, everyone forgets how great the orginal is.

How about the sequels to the Alfred Hitchcock classic: Psycho?

Another one I would have put one the list: DiehardIII.

what popped in my mind reading the title was "grease 2", have not seen the whole of it, switched channels when they started singing about bowling...BOWLING!
i think what they did with that list is too mention the movies made only to cash in on the original, especially of the original didn't require a sequel or didn't offer a premise for one at all. i mean, Speed 2, how likely is it that Annie find herself in a hijacked public transport twice! (first the buw and then the boat...)

I agree with most of those, though I think Phantom Menace or Matrix Revolutions should have been at #1. They were missing Die Hard 3 though, and they were missing Terminator 3. It is surprising not to see any of the Rocky sequels on there, or Superman 3 and/or 4 for that matter. Hey, does Catwoman count as a sequel? Dan Aykroyd must have needed the money real bad when he did Blues Brothers 2000 (and I thought the exact same thing about the title when it came out in 1998). And why wasn't the Mask 2 on there?

Does anyone know of a list of best sequels or sequels that just happened to be good by sheer luck?
I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an Obi-Wan to go.

I'm also surprised that Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle wasn't on the list (not that the first one was all that good to begin with).

die hard 2 boring?!? I'll admit it doesn't hold a candle to the orginal, but it is not boring.

The only ones I've seen were TPM and Speed 2

well, die hard 2 is basically a repetition of die hard 2, c'mon how often can one's wife happen to be held hostage by criminals? the only difference is they are on a plane...big deal.

That's a very good point - when a sequel is so bad it ruins the memory of the original, that is a sad day.

As for the question of what actually constitutes a bad sequel, I think if the original is good and the sequel sucks, it makes the list. If it's a bad sequel to a bad original, it doesn't count. By that Logic, Matrix Reloaded definitely deserves to be on the list. TPM, Although not technically a sequel, was a further instalment in a beloved amd respected series that basically pissed on the memory of the originals that spawned it - again, it's place on the list is well earned and deserved. I think TPM would probably top a list of biggest movie disappointments ever. Even though AOTC was worse (amazingly), TPM still takes the prize.

But the film alludes to that fact ('how can the same shit happen to the same guy twice?') and is therefore absolved of all guilt.

I will agree with Sybeman that Ocean's 12 was boring. They made a movie that was nothing but a series of inside jokes amongst the cast and crew. And they didn't let any of us in on them. It was painful to see the wonder that was Ocean's 11 ruined with Ocean's 12.

Agreed. It was a total mess. My mother-in-law bought it for me on DVD and now I'm stuck with the damn thing. The wife won't let me get rid of it, so there it is, polluting my DVD shelf.
