WOW thats excellent, I was going through the superman home page, and found all these deleted scenes from the movie, jus screen caps but I cant beleive they cut out soo much!

On the other hand I also read an interview with Salkind and I'm glad to hear that there will 5 new DVD's coming our this summer, Superman I, II, III, IV and Supergirl.


They cut quite a bit out of this film. But be forewarned. I'm not sure what specific extended scenes you are talking about, but there were supposed to be several extended scenes that were seen by some industry insiders at about the time Superman IV came out. These extra scenes were hidden away and have not been seen since then. So Rikter's disc should have all "available" scenes, there are more that are, at least for now, lost to the ages.

The set coming out this year should put all of this to rest. It's 14 discs.

I'm unsure as to how 14 works out. Currently it looks like the set will include:

1 & 2 - Superman: The Movie (2-Disc Special Edition)
3 & 4 - Superman II (2-Disc Special Edition)
5 - Superman II: The Donner Cut (1-Disc)
6 & 7 - Superman III (2-Disc Special Edition)
8 & 9 - Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (2-Disc Special Edition)
10 & 11 - Supergirl (2-Disc Special Edition)
12 & 13 - Superman Returns (2-Disc Special Edition)

Though that only makes 13. Maybe there will be an additional bonus disc that covers all the films with a documentary? In any case, while we can enjoy the recent batch of Superman discs for now (that Rikter and DFNYC have spread) it's nice that they'll finally be getting "Special Edition" treatment.

I'm still assimilating the details; it's a lot to take in but yet again, it leaves us with more questions than answers LOL.

Here are the important links:
IGN poorly transcribed interview. Donner confirms a cut of the film closer to his vision and using Lester scenes to bridge the gaps. Unfortunately, according to the interview, the Donner shot 'blank bullets' footage can't be found. Instead, they'll insert the test screening version, which wasn't shot by Donner.

Warner held a press event yesterday, they announced the 14 disc set - Superman: The Ultimate Collection. Read about it here.

This is what I think the 14 discs will feature:

Superman II Theatrical cut

Superman II Special Features

ILYA SPILLS THE BEANS ON THE SUPERMAN DVDS!!!

Superman Homepage has published a snippet of their Ilya Salkind interview [complete interview will be published later], and what will interest you guys is the details on the forthcoming DVD SEs.

Now that Ilya has spilled the beans, I can speak more liberally about certain things without confidence agreements lassos tightening around my neck. The interview reveals a great deal, some of which you already know, but there’s a lot of new information like Pierre Spengler contributing interviews and a commentary track. Richard Lester might be contributing an interview. I remember someone telling me that he might even do the commentary on Superman 2.

I can reveal that Sarah Douglas has provided commentary for the Superman 2 theatrical cut edition. This was done at Pinewood.

All Superman film interests are now completely owned by Warner Bros. This includes Supergirl. The rights issue delayed releases of Superman 3 and 4 in various international territories including the U.K.

Now Donner’s Superman 2...Obviously we will get something but sources at the studio mentioned awhile back that not everything has been accounted for and there are concerns about the quality. Richard Donner and Tom Mankiewicz are poised to record a commentary track. Once again, Michael Thau is working on the footage with Dick Donner. I trust Michael will do the very best, he's got my support thats for sure! The studio will make an announcement once everything is in place.

Oops. I just realised that the current guess at the DVD list includes the 134min Superman IV cut. My post is now pointless.

Though I will say that I'd rather have 2 different cuts of Superman IV, as opposed to 1 cut of Superman IV and some really strained Special Features,

WOW 14 Discs!! Thats gonna be the 2nd biggest DVD box set I have! (1st being 18 discs for Roswell seasons 1-3) But WOW and each move comes with both original and extended versions!! I'm real excited about Superman IV!!

Sorry but nope, it's not an Angrysvn Release but it does have a GREAT cover in the DVD-Rom

I just bought the original U.S.A Home Video Making of Superman I and II BETA cassette from a video store that was going out of business. $1.95. It's still got the original release box. The BETA tape has both the Making of's on it and has red lettering. I however do not have a Betamax machine but I couldn't pass an original up that cost only a couple bucks.

This is the original U.S.A Video

I wonder if it is better quility than the transfers we have out there.

Anyone have a BETAmax and can they transfer.

You never know, I have looked at the tape and it looks hardly used... very interesting....

Any takers??

Sorry if this is a bit cheeky but does anyone know where I can dl a cover and labels for the Superman II extended version posted on MySpleen.com. I would 'try' and make some myself but I don't have an artistic bone in my body and I want the DVDs to take pride and place in my dvd collection.

Just wondering if someone could take the Superman The Movie logo and create a Superman IV Movie logo in the same manner?

As well as a Superman Returns Logo - the logo I am talking about is the Silver and Blue one from the U.S. DVD cover and all video versions and the theatrical trailer...

can anyone help?

It's for my Supeman 4 Recut special features and the Superman III: Superman Returns Trailer fan made I am working on using elements of the New superman returns trailers..
