Mad Magazine ran a similar parody inthe late 70s, with a 23-bladed razor you simply wrapped around your face ad shaved like you were drying off with a towel.

And I love that it's got a single blade on the back for sideburns and that. I have more of a feeling that, rather than getting bigger, Gillette's going to realise that people use the single blade more than the 5, and their next big thing will be......a straight razor! SHOCK!

I've considered getting one. If their claim of it reducing irritation is true id be all for it. Though i dont feel its worth investing in a new razor now as my mach 3 works good, just need to make sure i change the blade when the green strip is gone.

and the single blade for sideburns would be quite nice for cutting them straight (and even, but i think my head is crooked so not sure if it would help me)

I have a very...VERY tough beard. For years I had to deal with bloody collars on my shirts because I couldn't find a good razor. Enter the Mach3. It was like a miracle for me. No irriation, no cuts. The Mach3 Turbo was even better. It's the only one I can use right now. If I have to buy a cheapie disposable for some reason I usually only get 2 shaves from it and then toss it because it will slaughter me if I try any more than that. Yes, cramming more and more blades onto a razor gets to be ridiculous, but for people like me they do help.

For anyone interested, here's a site that sells cryo-frozen blades that last a lot longer than store bought, for comparable price. I've gotten double the shaves out of them, which is a great savings, IMO.

And be sure to keep your razor blades inside of pyramid shaped containers! It is common wackadoo belief that pyramid power, among other things, keep your blades eternally sharp.

Why- that's why I wear a pyramid shaped hat... to keep the razor edge on my wit!

Yeah, I've heard of this. They did a big deal on it on an episode of Mythbusters. Totally busted, no power whatsoever, as I recall.

I have the same problem with razors as I do with HDTV technology.... I don't want to buy one now as 3 months down the road it'll be obsolete. Yeah, of course I could fucking buy a razor with 5 blades - and for a fleeting moment I'll be hot shit - but what will I be when Coworker McLoudmouth gets his hands on one of the first 6 bladed razors? I'll be a fucking loser, that's what I'll be - and I'll have the extra .07 mm of stubble to prove it.

I have an old TV and hair on my face, fucking deal with it.

I've got the Mach 3...I think. Whichever is the non-battery one. Its done well enough for me.

I think what makes a big difference between it and my old razor (an ?Aquos? 2-blade) was that the Mach 3 has both a pivot for the head and the spring-mount blades. The soothing gel stuff only lasts for 3 or 4 uses, but when its there that helps as well.

I use a Wahl trimmer for my goatee and sideburns.

Here's my question about this:
If placing the blades closer is what reduces irritation (as they say in the commercial), why not simply offer a 3-blade model with closer blades? Why do they need to add any blades?

I use the Shick X-Treme 3-bladed razor. I just sorta go wwith whatever's on sale at the time. Mine was on sale when I bought it, and I keep using it.

Occasioanlly, though, I do pull out a straight-blade. Nothing beats it.

First off, they're not $5 above retail (at least they weren't the last time I bought them). Second, they WORK. Whereas I usually get 5 shaves from a Mach3 Turbo, I get 10 with one of these.

Actually, when i looked at the prices, they were twice as much (which for the 4 pack of mach 3 blades would be just about $5 more). $32 for the 16 pack that you get at costco or bj's wholesale for about $16.

At least as far as the prices i remember from last time i bought razor blades.
