It's actually a little less than half the image as I didn't scan all of Vader.


I don't scan prequel stuff tho'.


Nice to see those scans used, but you've cut out the best part of the Falcon poster ... our heroes!

It is indeed...been waiting for a high res scan of that pic for a while. I did airbrush the royal gaurds out of the pic though...plus a few other things.

Being from the Uk those were the cinema release posters, so for me it holds a special place in my heart. I like 'em anyway.

There's a more common version which has less stuff in it (and added an Ewok)

But I like the original, more busy version. =)

It was kinda just a concept thing I did. I loved the way the Star Wars cover turned out so much more than the others that I just went with that. If I would actually release it I would probably do something a little different. I love the classic feel of it and the fact that is way different than anything else.

I think Pepsi may have inspired me to develop more of a complete set. With as many ideas I have thrown out there, It would be fun to develop my own definitive set rather than just testing the waters with concepts and ideas.

It was actually faily easy to do. I had a layer on photoshop with the artwork in it, and a hue/saturation layer above it. I then added a layer mask to the hue/saturation layer and went over the part I didn't want black & white in black (when working in layer masks, you use black & white to determine what you want to show up).

red shows where to create a hue/saturation layer as well as other quite useful effects.


Great little tutorial, Pepsi. I just want to add for everyone else... don't be afraid of layers and their overlaying effects.

Personally, I don't use masks and filters. All of that pretty much comes from preferences if the direction you take. The cool think about Photoshop is there are so many ways to do so many different things. It just takes a bit of playing around to figure out which ways are best for you.

Ha ha!! That's the thing, no one's original anymore!!

It wasn't actually your layout I ripped off, it was some other design I found

Didn't you know I work for Epson?!


Yeah I know the black is heavy, but I print them out at work so personally I don't give a shit. I think I'm well with in my right at work to use as much ink and glossy paper as possible. My boss is an idiot and owes me a few favours!

Hotrod, in your Return of the Jedi cover one hand is green (in the other covers the hands are equal). Maybe you want to change that? Just something I noticed...
