If you want a feel of what the rough cut would have been like, watch Deleted Magic a few times, and if you could watch it on a really old TV that you can turn the color off, that will take you half way there.

So, two things to think about if you are going to do this:

1. Remember that the "Lost Cut" had only 30 to 40 percent different footage. Try to look at this in a glass is half full kind of way.

2. Also remember that there were two different rough cuts. The first was in July of '76 made by John Jympson. This is the famous rough cut of that Insider article. This one had no sound and was in black and white. It had very minimal effects and model work (likely none) from ILM. Also the scenes that were later on the shooting schedule (such as the scenes on the Tantive IV) were not filmed and were represented by a 'Scene Missing' card.

The second rough cut was the one George showed to his friends (like Speilberg and Coppola) and Fox executives. This version already had the Biggs and Anchorhead footage cut out. It had the early opening crawl. It also had temp music from other films and classical music as a temp score. WWII dogfight footage was here in this version, I don't know if this temp footage was in the first rough cut.

3. Remember that since many of your source materials aren't gonna be that great, you want to focus on content instead of quality. Since this is a rough cut, I think most viewers will understand.

Okay, three things. You get the idea.
