The Indiana Jones Project (Released) — Page 12

Hmm...I could save you some money insofar as every version of 'Raiders' I've owned does not have the legendary Ark burning scene post-credits.

The original VHS tape didn't have it, nor did the box set version released at the time that 'Last Crusade' came out on video.

The later 1990's THX widsecreen set didn't feature the scene either, nor did the Laserdisc. I don't know about other pressings, or foreign versions, but I think I know the answer already...

Nor did the vintage print that I built and projected 6 years ago.

Neil

Well at least the reversed surround channels have been addressed.

This is something I've been wanting since I was a kid.

Does anyone have copies of the original Indiana Jones Kenner toy commercials? Remember the one for the 12" Indy where the kid throws him into a pit of worms?

Its actually a pit of rubber bands. And yes, I have it!

No way! That's awesome...just awesome.

Are you planning on including this in any project, or is it for personal use only?

There is not now, nor has there ever been a post-credits crate-burning scene.

Are we seriously having the burning crate arguement again? This has to be at least the third time I've seen it on this board alone.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

ROTFLMAO! Now I'm waiting for someone to call us overzealous censoring Nazis for browbeating anyone who brings it up.

<span class=“Italics”>MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.
<span class=“Bold”>JediRandy: They’re certainly beyond any repair you’re capable of making.</span></span>

<span class=“Italics”>MeBeJedi: You aren’t one of us.
<span class=“Bold”>Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.</span></span>

<span class=“Italics”>JediRandy: I won’t suck as much as a fan edit.</span>

Is that the version with Luke throwing the hook and missing?

I love you Jambe - in the manliest way possible, you know, beer and wrestling and stuff. Scratch the wrestling. Didn't mean to go all Broke Back there for a sec - anyway, you rule. Thanks.

Has this made it onto one of your releases? Also, I have a bonus 5th disc that looks very much like it is a 10 minute edit of The Making of Raiders. Are these two different things? I know you've discussed this here before, but I didn't see anything at first glance in the "featurette" that isn't in the Making of.

They're the same thing. They're on one of my Raiders discs. There's a ton of stuff that isn't in the Making of.

Good old Kenner. They were not about to go through the Christmas '77 trauma again. And the kids won't notice that Indy is clean shaven with longer hair and looks a lot like Han Solo will they!

speaking of the sound mix on the official dvd release of indiana jones trilogy, I was looking at the box today and there is no stereo mix just 5.1, unless someone does a preservation I will be buying a laserdisc player to watch the original versions film grain and all, Including the so called removal of mistakes.

The dvd's we have now are not the versions I watched when I was a kid, those were full frame transfers on Vhs, and neither are they identical to the first theatrical releases.

There really should be a preservation similar to what Russ has done for star wars

by making many of the different versions and sound mixes available, Like the Cav Versions of Star wars and empire strikes back.

By the way, there are Cav full screen versions for both raiders and temple of doom, but not last crusade.

Isomix versions with the full soundtracks with unreleased tracks would also be really cool,

And maybe even the story of Raiders of the Lost ark LP produced exclusively for records by ben burtt!

I know i'm probalbly absolutely in the minority here, but I have always prefered films in stereophonic sound to dolby 5.1, especially if that is how they were filmed or recorded, rather than artificially created after the fact 30 years later. Although 5.1 and 6.1 and 7.1 are viable now, and create better spacialization stereo tracks should be included on releases, (also known as dolby 2.0) or better yet Pcm Stereo uncompressed!

The official star wars dvd release that everyone absolutely hates at least had the common sense to include them, it's very puzzling?

and furthermore just like the star wars trilogy release no deleted scenes or the original documentaries GRRR!

In fact so many of my favorite films have been butchered on dvd, that a laserdisc player is almost absolutely necessary to back up some of them for my private little collection. I have no hope that the studios will ever get anything right with classic films or older releases, even with blu ray or HD-DVD will we ever get anything close to the definitive edition transfer of star wars. Nope we won't, we will get lucas so called third draft or fourth draft versions of his super duper edition re-edits crap versions, and even better (Sarcasm People) Special Editions of the prequels oh joy!

and that's just the tip of the iceberg I was reading Droid maker and can you believe what they tried to pull on Tom Holman ( Creator and original Engineer of The THX sound system) when he left the company, read the book and you will see what I mean.

Personally, I don't see the need for preserving every previous video edition. The purpose of all video editions is to reproduce the theatrical film. On that note, though, I was surprised that there wasn't a stereo mix on the Indy discs.

Anyone who has watched a 16 or 35mm print of 'Raiders' would be hard pressed to deny that there's something cool about seeing it with all of the grain, scratches and everything else that goes with a heavily circulated print...it's history.

BTW - this year is the 25th Anniversary of 'Raiders.'

I'm going to spell this out very easily for you. The 5.1 track on the Raiders DVD was derived from the original 6 track mix. Nothing was added or taken away. The mix was done at Paramount and not Lucasfilm. Had Lucasfilm been involved, I'm sure new elements would have creeped in, but as it is, the DVD IS the original mix. And the original Dolby Stereo track was derived as well from the 6 track master. This isn't a case like Star Wars where multiple mixes were made.

The digital PCM track on the widescreen laser disc is wrong! It has at least one sound effect that is different from the original film and the analog sound on the original LD is pretty fuzzy sounding. Neither are worth preserving.
