I agree in principle, but I never saw MagnoliaFan's Jar Jar as Soloesque. He always struck me as sort of an adolescent wannabe badass, almost like Meatwad channeling Joe Pesci's character in "Goodfellas."

Jay, how does this apply to the newly clarified forum rules? Sounds like he's supporting piracy to me. I for one continue to believe that format is irrelevant, but we should all have one properly licensed source for any title in our collection.


The OT is a special case because Lucas has already said numerous times that it no longer exists. As long as someone owns a legitimate retail release of the OT, I don't have a problem with them being in possession of a DVD-R. If the DVD-R is all they own, that's a problem.

Well... as much as I agree that George Lucas has done some truly stupifying things to the original movies... exactly how are you 'beating' him? He's doing what he 'thinks' is right, he 'thinks' he's making the films the best that they can be for the fans.
Now I personally think he's lost the plot, but there are those out there (some of which even bother to post here, heh) who reckon the '04 versions are better.

I don't think you're "beating" him at anything, but you're doing a sterling job of "disagreeing" with him, sticking to your guns and so forth and for that I commend you all. But uh... yeah.

Did anyone note ([edit] they did and I can't figure out how to delete my post) that the reason we keep rereleasing our own edits is because we are attempting to create perfect preservation of ot?--which is a never-ending process as time goes on and technology and resources get better and better? Lucas is attempting to perfect his art, not perfect its preservation--that's the difference.
