Forgive me if this seems crazy, but after reading a LOT of posts by certain people on a few of the threads, I think it's appropriate.

I'd like to begin a monthly "award" called:

"The Rick McCallum Award for Exellence in Verbally Sucking George Lucas' C**k"

My profile is open to Private messeges, and I ask that those of you that think this could be fun should send me a private message nominating any poster that fits the above. I need thier screen name, thread they posted on, and a quote from them.

On the last day of the month (starting right now) I will announce the top 3 nominees, and on the first of each month, I will announce the winner (or loser, depending on how you look at it). For example, the winner for February will be announced on March 1. Nobody is exempt from being nominated, myself included. Let's have some fun with this. I know I will.

Maybe, but it's supposed to be all in fun. There are people on the forum that do think Lucas is a genius, and do the same thing the Rick McCallum does. Besides, this is the internet, and people shouldn't take it personally.

If Jay wants to lock this thread down, I'll understand completely, and I apologize in advance to anyone that might actually take it personally & be offended by it.

That being said, I'm waiting for the first nominations to come in.

Well, even if it's not considered "inflammatory," I'm just worried that it'll become redundant. I mean, the majority of us here would probably never be nominated, since most of us came here for the same reason. It would just be the same one or two people every single month, I'm afraid.

EDIT: I'm not knocking the idea or anything. I'm just presenting my concern.

i just wish we were ALL united in some fashion or another in the notion that the oot is the best version of the star wars trilogy, since this is what this site is about

does it not undermine the genuine intent of the petition.
we want the original trilogy returned unscathed, but you
won't consider where this could go, or how someone may interpret it.

Well, I admit "bullshit" is a strong word and I should probably have explained myself a bit. It was early morning

What can sometimes annoy me at this forum is the tendency for some people to just get insulted all the time because they have opinions that the majority apparently do not agree with. I was probably kinda fearing this would just be a moderator-supported version of that. It's probably primarily because I myself tend to agree with AWK on a number of issues - I'm not trying act all grown-up or kindergarten-ish here, but I think this place could do with a bit of tolerance. I'm here because I want to see the OT's preserved. I cannot see how it is relevant that I don't really mind Lucas' changes (it's the choice between new and old I want, obviously), the prequels (I probably watch ROTS more often than the OT) and I enjoy "Light The Sky On Fire". Although that glowing penis mic is a bit weird.

But none of this really matters here, because that has nothing to do with the cause of the website. Furthermore, I've noticed that some people are chosen as whipping boys and are basically told to shut up no matter what they do. If Lucas and his crew are watching this site, they must be busting their guts laughing because all of this bickering doesn't make anyone of us seem intellectual. Be aware that this is just what I think. I like this site and its cause a lot and I don't wanna turn into that obligatory n00b who just says the site sucks. I've tried to give a reasoning for why I think like I do here, but obviously, your mileage may vary. I hope this won't offend anyone.

I suppose I was just overreacting there earlier, so I'm sorry about that. If people won't mind looking inwards and laughing a bit of themselves, I don't suppose it could hurt.

I tend to agree with you, man. I think AWK's had his run of whipping - sure, he's probably done some crap to deserve it at times, but nowadays he seems to come out with some relatively good things to say. I can see marioxb becoming the new whipping-boy, because he's just coming on here and stirring up shit. I'm not sure how I feel about that, but he's kinda pissing me off so I could go either way on it.

Peace to all the people with opinions that voice them well and don't descend into shit-stirring and pissing contests.
