I had a discussion about this today, actually. We can't just say that "if you get paid to play, you can't go to the Olympics," because that would pretty much eliminate every hockey player down to the beer leagues. I mean, even the minor league players are making money playing hockey. Not as much as the NHL, but they're still making money. I mean, if we take that approach, no more AHL players, CHL, WHL, Russian Superleague, Swedish Hockey League, all the European leagues. Even the junior players are getting paid to play hockey. The Olympics would just be like an international rec league. Perhaps if we just excluded the Major leagues from the competition.
