Direct evidence that Lucas didn't have the backstory all planned out when he wrote IV, V, and VI, because if he did, changes to the original to accommodate the prequels wouldn't be necessary.
Lucas should've stayed true to the original vision and written well-thought-out prequel scripts instead of "fixing" the OOT so everything fit together.
An ounce of prevention (intelligent prequel scripts) is worth a pound of cure (rewriting the OOT).
