I think if they did that, we'd be crying for more blood than we already are. It would be left more up to what a ref THINKS he saw than what the replay shows or doesn't show. Officials already get together (usually) and decide what to call before they announce it.


But right now unless the replay is 100% crystal clear, the call is totally left up to to what he thinks he saw. I think way it works now when replay is used , the orginal ruling on the field has too much weight in the final ruling. It also creates a delemma with "down by contact" rulings. If the ref rules that the player was down by contact(on the field), replay can't be used. But if the ref rules(on the field) that the player wasn't down by contact, the only way the final ruling can be changed to down by contact is if the replay crystal clearly shows that player was down by contact. So the only way a ref can get to look at the replay in "down by contact" situations is if he puts himself in a position where most of time he will be forced to rule(in the final ruling) that the player was not down by contact.
