Classic Edition: Return of the Jedi by Ocpmovie (Released) — Page 12

I'm trying to download the Ocpmovie DVD's from myspleen but I'm getting piss-poor download rates due to throttling on my University internet connection. I was curious if I could get copies of:

Ocpmovie's Star Wars Classic Edition
Ocpmovie's Empire Strikes Back Classic Edition
Ocpmovie's Return of Jedi Classic Edition
Deleted Magic
I would like these in Single Layer NTSC.

Would there be anyone willing to send me copies through pay it forward?

I designed the disc as single layer so it looks nice that way, but I did keep and release the uncompressed dual layer original, for those who want to try and spot any difference in quality. =) Personally, I can't spot any at all. The DVD-ROM extras are fun. They were only supposed to be on the dual layer to fill up space, but Metallaxis included them in the Myspleen version. Go Metallaxis.

Oh. How nice of him. I still think I'll wait, though. I'm just obsessive like that. Of course, that's assuming that Metallaxis is still planning on posting the DL version, since all of the content is already out there. If he's not, then I'll grab while the grabbing is good. Speaking of which, I remember you saying that you made a DL form of ESB CE. Did you make that for distribution like RotJ, or was that just a test? I hope it was just a test, because I'm almost halfway through downloading the SL version . I also think that it would be interesting for someone to restore the theatrical version of TPM and AotC (Lucas, in his infinite wisdom *barf*, felt the only film of the six that deserved a purely theatrical DVD was RotS). It would be a quick and easy job compared to the herculean task you've just accomplished *anyone else hear a sucking sound?*. I would do it myself, but I suck at doing anything that requires actual skill. Any takers? A documentary along the lines of Deleted Magic/Building Empire/Returning to Jedi would be unnecessary, since the official PT DVDs have bookoos of documentaries (one extra disc for each film, and yet they could only spare one for the whole OT) and about every major deleted scene, save the Droid Control Ship Raid from Hyperspace, which the public now has for free, thanks to your Deleted Magic DVD *there's that sucking sound again*. I realize I'm just rambling. I'm really sleepy and losing focus. What are we talking about, again?

I'm not sure if the DL versions of either Jedi or Empire will ever hit Myspleen. At the moment Metallaxis doesn't have either one. The DL Jedi did hit the newsgroup thanks to Bo.

To me the single layer versions are the real versions. I never intended to release the "barely DL" Empire. As I write this, I still haven't! (Sorry to all the people who asked for it - I'll do it this week, honestly ...)

ocpmovie (and COOV, while we're at it): Just wondering if there was a cover yet for ROTJ that has text on the back of it, or if not when there might be one.... Thanks!

Oh, I'm supposed to do that. I haven't, cos I've been too busy to do ANYTHING. Which explains the list of undelivered orders a mile long ... sigh ...

You sound like Yogi Berra. Next you will be telling me that no one goes there anymore because it is too crowded.

I cant wait to get this one as I have already thrown away my Official DVD'd VHS tapes and laserdiscs.

Where can we find information on this disc PSYCHO_DAYV?

All right DOOODZ ....

Here's the text for the back, as requested. This is the "long version" so you can cut down whatever doesn't fit your vision for the cover. I'll put this on some covers when I have the chance.

The original version of Return of the Jedi. Not the way it was, but the way you remember it.

Relive the original version of the thrilling conclusion to the Star Wars saga, with this faithful reproduction of the original release of Return of the Jedi.

Luke Skywalker has returned to his home planet of Tatooine in an attempt to rescue his friend Han Solo from the clutches of the vile gangster Jabba the Hutt. Little does Luke know that the GALACTIC EMPIRE has secretly begun construction on a new armored space station even more powerful than the first dreaded Death Star. When completed, this ultimate weapon will spell certain doom for the small band of rebels struggling to restore freedom to the galaxy....

In Return of the Jedi, the greatest sci-fi/fantasy saga of all time, Star Wars, comes to a close as Luke Skywalker fulfills his destiny as a Jedi Knight and confronts his father, Darth Vader, and the evil Emperor. Full of some of the series' best moments, characters and special effects, this is mythic filmmaking at its very best.

Using video from official DVD and laserdisc sources, the 1983 theatrical version of the film has been reproduced in pristine DVD quality, equal to the 2004 DVD release. CGI Special Edition elements have been eliminated, and a new soundtrack has been created for this disc, based on the 35mm mix heard on the 1993 Definitive Collection laserdisc, but reinstating material from the 70mm version as heard in more recent releases.

Relive the magic with one of the classic science fiction/fantasy films of our time, the way you remember it. From the editor that brought you Deleted Magic.

Any possibillty on a complete Classic Edition Trilogy box-cover art? For a 3 in 1 dvd case? or perhaps a slipcase for the three movies? Just curious. I'm actually probably going to keep them in seperate cases, just because each of the individual covers look beautiful, but it would be cool to have a nicely designed box/slipcase for the incomparable Classic Edition Trilogy.

Maybe you could use the box that the official DVDs came in. You could have all three CEs, with the fourth disc being deleted magic.

I had a chance to see the first half of ANH Classic Edition and was a bit disappointed.
Whenever there was laser material mixed with DVD the colors were frequently mismatched/blotchy.

My biggest surprise was the aliasing/pixalation around all the edges.

Are these flaws limited to ANH or does Jedi suffer the same problems?

Empire and Jedi look much better, like the 2004 DVDs.

Star Wars required a different attitude, and I think that what I did to it was appropriate for the film. So there.

All three have isolated scores.

I know what would work for a Classic Edition 3-in-1 case. There's a painting Drew Struzan did for the Star Wars RPG ... or the card game ... half of it is OT characters, half is PT, with Vader in the middle - it's in the Star Wars posters book and I've scanned it. The OT side would be nice for a case.

I like the idea of using your 2004 cases for the Classic Editions though. With the "wood," "snow" and "blood" covers respectively.

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this question, but... Has anyone else had audio sync problems when burning this to DVD?

I downloaded from MySpleen and burned using Nero Burning ROM. Had great success with this on ocpmovie's ESB release, which is utter perfection.

For some reason I have burned this one twice now and both times the audio is delayed by as much as a second in many parts of the film. I don't get it!

Help?

do you have the problem on standalone or on pc ?

Seems to be happening only on my standalone. What does that mean?

Sorry if this has been posted. On my copy, the scene at the shield generator door, after Leia has been wounded, Han's line "Ive got an idea." has a slight stutter to it. Is this a flub in the audio mix, or a bad burn for me?

I checked and mine does the same thing at that spot--"I've got an idea-dea." There is a slight stutter. So my guess is there is a problem with the mix.

I still can't figure out why the DVDs I burned play fine on my laptop, but have massive audio sync problems on my standalone...

Just out of curiosity, OCP, if you could release an "Ultimate OCP Star Wars Box Set," what would you include in it? The six DVDs available on myspleen? Just the three Classic Editions? Just the Classic Editions and Deleted Magic? Other people's fan DVDs? A rubber chicken? What?

"I've got an idea" is the dual layer break point on the official DVDs. The picture fucks up royally for a little bit on the official DVDs, then calms down.

I wonder if that's the break point on mine too. It would be ironic.

Anyway.

No reason for the stutter, whatever, blah.

Ultimate OCP Box Set? Wha? Oh dear.

Er, I think it's good to have the Classic Editions, and Deleted Magic, and maybe Return of the Ewok. There y'go.

I mailed out 14 packages today. A huuuge stack. I apologize for the delay, I know some of you have probably been waiting a month or longer for yours, but y'see, everyone and their mother ordered these damn things and I'm just one man. It takes an hour to burn a dual layer DVD, and everyone and their mother wanted one of those too ... Oh, and certain people thought it would be nice to ask me for, say, 37 DVDs in one order. All of different things, DVDs I barely know where they are and

AAAAAAAAARGGGGGGGHHHHH

WILL I EVER BE FREE????

I finished the first supplementals disc for my Thief and the Cobbler set today. Woo.

That's sexy Nix Nux!

Good work. You followed the format to a tee!

Well done, I call that an official cover. I gotta do one with the combined red and character artwork like Coov did tho'. =D

Knolly - You'll find that this Nix.Nux cover matches Coov's work on the other two films.

BigBlueRig - It'll be a cold day in hell before I would revisit these movies. =D
