Yep. The only enjoyable parts this time were the Rolling Stones at halftime, and the commercials.

no not twelve times as many causalties, but the war would have lasted alot longer then 2 weeks, and that 100 000 number of iraqi civilians that got killed as collateral damage would still be around. also if they spent that sort of money on there alternate fuel reasearch there would be not reason for america to go into iraq. cause they wouldnt give a fuck how stable the region is if there wasnt oil there.

If there wasn't dependency on foreign oil we wouldn't have sugar-coated our relations with the @#!$ terrorists in the first place and there would have been no 9-11 and no War on Terror. Like Bush said, hindsight alone isn't wisdom, and cutting the funds to the troops is like saying "we sent you over there, but now we've given up and are going to let you all be killed horribly by Zarkawi's men"

do you know how much money the spent to send people over there. i beleive his buget for it last time was 690 billion dollars. my point is that they american army is spread too thin andit was faulty tactics that won you guys the war. all this stuff you're dealing with now is the result of the iraqi army taking off there uniform and puting on civiliam cloths. had the US done a better job for the invasion they would be in much better position. and see what they should do it train there marines to survive without a $5 000 gun. you can fund the war very nicely if they use weapons that are cheaper. the problem with eh US army is that they depend on technology too much and htats what drives the buget through the roof.the only way they are going to acutally subdue the insurgency properly is with man power not more weapons. but yeah even my solution is filled with holes but thats jsut how the whole thing is, its just a fucked up situation as it is, and its what you guys for electing a dumbass like bush as president. you cant back out now but see you guys could afford to pull out much faster if you get off your reliance on oil. cause then you just need to stablize the government, and not help with reconstruction directly. but if you want hind sight, bush should have taken that 690 billion and put that into research, rather then start firing off 2 million dollar cruise missles, that dont do that much. iraq military was broken in 91 when the us first went in. and i bet if the US said to sadam, ok we are withdrawing all the money we spend to get you oil all that revenue he might have responded better.

I hate the increasing number of trolls on this board in recent months. I liked this place more when I didn't post. Back when I was a lurker.

I remember when I was a lurker, over a year ago. I kinda wish I'd signed up then, so I wouldn't be lumped with that huge influx of people who joined right around the time Revenge of the Sith came out, most of whom were brief flames only to be extinguished. But even though Sith was my impetus for finally joining, I guess I don't want to be lumped in with the preconception that the hype of the movie sparked my Star Wars interest.

I really don't think you should, Warbler. It's really not that bad here. Nothing's ever going to be perfect. And you just gotta realize that sometimes, people say stupid things. But it's all just out of fun, which is why we're here in the first place.

If it's because any of other reason that would forbid you to access this forum, I'd understand, it'd be sad but understandable, but... if it's because of the recent posters and stuff, I'd ask you to reconsider.

You and I appear to have joined around the same time. How did you come across this site? I believe I found it when I first found out about MagnoliaFan's "Balance of the Force" edit, and I joined the site so I could ask questions about where to find it.

Then I got hooked.

Anyone else care to share their story of how they came across OT.com?

Sure. I came across Myspleen looking for torrents of the Clone Wars cartoon, and then I found the TR47 discs, and found a reference to this site. I joined, but posted so rarely. This topic would make a good thread on its own. Perhaps one of us should start it.

I wanted to see if was possible to get a decent set of the originals on DVD, so I started looking around the major Star Wars websites and kept seeing references to this "originaltrilogy.com" and then typed in "original trilogy" on my browser and there it was a link to this place and the petition. I signed the petition and lurked for a few weeks before joining up to the forums....

It is because of the recent posters. The number of trolls keeps increasing and bringing down the quality of our forum. Jay doesn't seem to care about it. It almost seems as if he is on their side. They are taking control of our forum and nothing is being done to stop it. But I have not yet decided to leave. I am just thinking about it.

I have my full story posted over at the new thread, but, in a nutshell, my frantic, angry searching for information on the 2004 DVD changes brought me here.

yes i HATE that as well. you know i was just thinking that the other day when i was in my dry lab, its seems that this semester both of my partners have been completely clueless aobut the labs, and i have been left to 1. figure out whats going on and 2. explain it to them. and then it jsut further pissed me off when we have to do this perposal thing where we need to improve one of the labs, and i tell one of my partners to do the write-up, he does a crap one and the TA tells us to redo it, then just in small talk with another TA i come up with a brillent one. so now i am left to redo the perposal. its so fuckin annoying.

Yes, I agree that recently too many trolls have flooded this forum - which, by the way, was never really troll free - but I have to disagree with you there on Jay don't caring about it. I'm positive he does, and what he has comented and done on the subject proves it. But still he is faced with a dillema: being this a free forum, who can judge if someone should be banned or not, or what one can post or not? I gotta say I've writtensome crappy posts before, does that make me a troll, or does that make me someone to be banned? Of course, there a re a few cases in which that person's presence is intolerable, and for these cases Jay has acted banning that person.

I have suggested having a few areas where only selected posters would be able to enter, but Jay has pointed out to me exactly what I said, it's not fair to block someone from viewing certain parts of this site just because we want to close it to ourselves...

What you COULD do is to ignore the trolling and focus on what you want...
