"Cutting the pieces off to make the puzzle fit"? I'm sorry, and I don't want to sound like a flamer, and I'm sure anyone on these boards can attest that I don't, but that just sounds pretty damned dumb. Please don't tell me you actually did this as a child! You couldn't figure out how the puzzle worked, so you simply made it fit? You see, in a puzzle, the pieces are created with the sole purpose of fitting together. If they don't fit together, then you don't have a puzzle. And you don't take your puzzle of the Golden Gate Bridge and try to combine it with a puzzle with a puzzle of the Statue of Liberty. They aren't meant to fit together, and so they won't unless you deface them. What the prequels should have been was the other half of the puzzle, or, no... a small little corner whose detail you can't quite see. Its clarification isn't necessary, but it would be nice to know what was in that corner. Those are what the prequels should have been. A part that's custom made to fit the existing puzzle. Instead, you have the orignals as the Statue of Liberty, and the prequels as the Golden Gate Bridge, and Lucas tries his damndest to make this implausible situation fit.

There's just no logical standpoint to it.
