I won my bet today. Granted, my methodology was a little off-kilter. I bet for the Steelers for one reason. The Montreal Canadians. The Habs have played on Super Bowl Sunday every year for the last 14 years (excepting last year, of course). They have won 9 of 14. In the 9 years they won, the AFC champ had a 6-3 record. So that's why I bet on the Steelers. That, and the Habs spanked the Flyers 5-0, so Philly fans had to temper that loss with a Superbowl win.

yeah i donno about todays game there were alot of ahhh questionable calles, if they were going to count that steelers TD where the guy was down and moved the ball over the line they sould have counted that seattle oen where he bearly pushes off they other other guy. also there were alot of calls after the hawks would go on a run for like 40 or 50 yards and it would get called back for a miss call. i saw at least 2 of those. so i donno good job on the steelers though, its not liek the didnt deserve it, the beat 1st, 2nd, 3rd in the AFC, and the 1st place team from teh NFC to win, now that isnt easy to do at all so good on them.

My congrads go out to the Steelers.

I hope a team from PA wins the Superbowl again next year, just not the Steelers.

Not having a favorite team to pull for in last night's game, I can objectively say I thought the Steelers played a clean game, but the officiating was crooked as a politician, which cost Seattle the trophy. The only thing worse than the officiating was Holmgren walking off the field and not meeting Cowher. Sportsmanship really went to the dogs at that moment.

I didn't realize Holmgren left the field. That's pretty poor.

Yes it is. I can understand Holmgren being upset about the questionable calls by the refs, but that is no reason to insult Cowher by not shaking hands with him. Cowher is not responsible for the bad officiating. Unless of course Holmgren actually believes that the Steelers and/or Cowher paid the refs off, which would be a ridiculous thing to believe.

My thoughts exactly Warbler. The Steelers did play a good, clean game (this game wasn't particularly great on the whole) and sportsmanlike conduct was shown throughout by the players on both sides. I took special note of how good the players were to each other, even after some scrappy plays that could've sent them fighting. The players really showed great conduct on both sides. Which made Holmgren's action just objectionable. And Cowher had this incredulous, hurt look on his face that was quite justified.

It seems all the sports writers are dinging the refs for the bad calls, but none of them are howling for blood. That's regrettable. I think the officials should be dragged out on the carpet for last night's game. This ain't high school ball, it's the Super Bowl. You can't blow any call, let alone six of them.

I don't think the refing, though questionable, cost the SeaHawks the game. The SeaHawks made plenty of mistakes of their own. And I don't think the refs blew 6 calls. Mayby a couple, but not 6. Also, if you ask me, on the Steeler's 1st touchdown, I think the ball crossed the plane. I think it blarely crossed, but it crossed the plane never the less. (imho)

I just can't believe the season's done already. Why does the NFL season always seem the shortest? It should be the longest because it's the most enjoyable, dammit!

I PREDICTED A STEELERS WIN, AND THEY DID. RICARDO HAS TIVO, SO WE REWATCHED THE "QUESTIONABLE" TOUCHDOWN. THERE'S NO WAY THAT HE CROSSED THE PLANE. EVEN IF YOU TAKE THE SEVEN POINTS AWAY THEY MOST LIKELY WOULD HAVE MADE A FIELD GOAL MAKING THE FINAL SCORE 17-10 IN FAVOR OF THE STEELERS. SEATTLE MISSED TWO FIELD GOALS, AND JUST HAD TOO MANY DAMN PENALTIES.

that wasnt the only one. there was the touch down for seattle that was disallowed, there was also a phantom call on a 40 yard passing play, where they called it back on a holding penatly that wasnt holding. also there was a 40 or 50 yard pass where the guy got it then ran and fumbled it and the ball went outta bounds. there were jsut too many momentum killing phantom penalties in that game.

To me it looked like the ball barely crossed the plane while he was in the air. Thing is, is the replay did not show clear and inconvertable evidence that the ball did not cross the plane. The ruling on the field was a touchdown. By NFL rules, in order to overturn the ruling on the field, the replay must should clear and inconvertable evidence that the ruling on the field was wrong. I think you'll agree that the replay does not show clear and inconvertable evidence that the ball did not cross the plane.

I think they made the right call on that touchdown, and Warb hit it bang on. There wasn't enough evidence to overturn the call, so the touchdown has to stay. As for the others, well, to be honest, I didn't actually watch the game. I was busy. NFL football confuses me anyway. Give me good old-fashioned CFL any day.

It was just one of those "lack of indisputable evidence" things. If it was not called a touchdown and challenged... they would not have overturned that either. My guess is that they would have went for it on the 1 inch line had it been overturned. Seahawks pretty much lost the game rather than the Steelers winning it (minus that trick play, that was SWEET).... and I was for the Steelers.

This is true. It's just that this year in the NFL playoffs there were more than several game changing calls that were more or less pivitol to the outcome of the games.


Check out this article on foxsports.com if you haven't already.

Bill Billichick and Mike Holmgren would be the first coaches ready to vote on allowing replay for pass interference calls.
